Background:
Erik Mongrain was born in Montral Canada. He has been playing since the age of 14 and is mainly self-taught, picking up his music by ear. After playing electric guitar for four years, he discovered Bach started classical acoustic playing and taught himself to read music.
At 18, he heard a CD by guitarists Don Ross and Michael Hedges. As a result he began to play with his lap tapping style.
