News
05-10-2006:
As we near the 17th anniversary of Alans death, it appears that the web site domain has also flown...Sad to note that Alans web site has gone off line. I have linked back to the web archive version.

Another good retrospective on Alan.

Background:
On the 19th of October 1989, the guitarist Alan Murphy died of AIDS in Westminster City Hospital, London.

Alan Murphy was a highly respected session guitarists in the UK, credited for his work with Kate Bush, Rod Stewart and Long John Baldry. In 1988 Alan Murphy joined Level 42. He also worked with Scritti Politti, Mike & Mechanics, Go West, Preston Heyman, and his own SFX.

SFX is an excellent example of his high quality fusion playing style and really shows what Alan was capable of. The playing extends on what was so often eluded to on session tracks like Mike & Mechanics "Silent Running".

You can still buy the SFX album or to find out more about Alan view this excellent web site dedicated to Alan Murphy's life.
