Background:
Istvan Alapi, was born on 2nd August 1962 in Salgótarján, north of Budapest. His grandfather used to play violin and his grand parents bought a guitar for Christmas, when he was 10. HE was very enthusiastic about playing the classical guitar, but his headmaster suggested a change to the tuba!
He decided tubs awas not for him and so he set about learning guitar and got lessons for a local talented player. He then planned to continue his studies in the jazz conservatory in Budapest after passing his final exams. In Hungary rock guitar weas taboo and so he was naturally drawn to the forbidden fruit! He took part in the "A star was born" talent show, and won the category and as a result attracted the attention of the two leaders of Edda, famous Hungarian band.
Check out his web site for a full discography.
