I met Charles Shaughnessy via the Petrucci forum. I have been impressed by the material in his MySpace web site: http://www.myspace.com/charlesshaughnessy A treat for fans of a heavy, legato, Holdsworth, progressive vibe!

Charles Shaughnessy is also playing a special gig on April, 12 2007 at Berklee Recital Hall 1W 1140, Boston, Massachusetts. This gig is free and will feature original material as well as music from Pink Floyd, Zappa, Peter Gabriel, The Flower Kings, Licentia. Hopefully there will be some videos published from the gig.

Background:
Charles Shaughnessy was born in the USA and is Seattle native. Charlie comes from a musical area of change. Charles see himself as a progressive composer and musician, having been raised on bands such as Yes, Genesis, Little Feat and Pink Floyd.

His jazz composer and musician influences inlcude Coltrane, Holdsworth, Chick Corea, Scott Henderson and Frank Gambale. Added to that the progressive metal influences include Meshuggah, Opeth, Ayreon and Dream Theater.

Charles Shaughnessy is currently attending Berklee in the area of Music Business and Performance. Check out his mp3
