Juliano Henrique Delphino says:
A cool and different approach of heavy and trash metal solos is to use uncommon or exotic scales. I have here two sub-modes from the minor mode: the Harmonic Minor and, her variation, the Hungarian Minor. They give us an oriental middle-east sound. To demonstrate how they do work, I improvised over an E minor backtrack. To keep always different, first of all, I used the harmonic minor, not in the same tone of the track, but a fifth below (A harmonic minor) -- this can always be a trick to produce a variation in the phrasing improvisation -- and only the Hungarian I kept on E Hungarian minor.

Harmonic Minor Scale: T 2M 3m 4 5 6m 7M
A harmonic minor: A B C D E F G#
