Pete Laramee: running with scissors

Pete Laramee's Childhood Memories CD is available from  http://www.guitar9.com/childhoodmemories.html

guitar9 says: Pete Laramee's 2008 disc, Childhood Memories, is melodic, guitar oriented, instrumental, progressive heavy rock and is not unlike any of his or the Kurgan's Bane's (his progressive hard rock band) previous work, but will be a tad heavier since Pete now plays the 7-string guitar. Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Planet X, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, and KISS) agreed to play a few solos on "Red Rocks", while Laramee is joined by his brother Jeff (also of Kurgan's Bane and Sonus Umbra) on drums, Luis Nasser (Kurgan's Bane, Sonus Sumbra) on bass, and Michael Passen from Concrete Prophet sit in on a few tunes as well, also on bass. In addition to being influenced by fusion and jazz guitarists, Laramee was influenced by players such as Vinnie Moore, George Lynch, Steve Vai and Greg Howe, which should give some insight into his solo style - which tends toward the high tech - with rapid arpeggios and furious legato lines.

Background:
Pete Laramee has been playing guitar for over 20 years. He played in a jazz band while in college, where he earned a B.S. in Communications. Influenced early by Van Halen, the Dregs, and all of the ‘80s guitar players, Pete returned to rock upon his graduation and played in several rock bands. Besides the “Bane,” Pete has been hired to sit in with other Baltimore-based prog bands and in 2002 he recorded a guitar-based, all-instrumental CD, Alone But Not Lonely.
