ACCLAIMED ITALIAN GUITARIST MARCO IACOBINI DEBUTS
The Sky There'll Always Be ON APRIL 23RD

(4/22/2012 – Los Angeles, CA) Acclaimed Italian guitarist Marco Iacobini debuts his latest release The Sky They’ll Always Be (Muso Entertainment) on April 23rd. The third release from the prolific Italian guitarist features an all-star line up of legendary performers including bassists Tony Levin(Peter Gabriel/King Crimson), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big/Steve Vai) and Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani); as well as drummers Dave Weckl (Paul Simon/Madonna), Keith Carlock (Steely Dan/James Taylor) and Thomas Lang (Asia/stOrk) as well as saxophonists Bill Bergman (Stevie Wonder/Bonnie Raitt) and Carl Verheyen (Supertramp) as well as Grammy-nominated keyboardist Philippe Saisse (Chick Corea) among others to capture Iacobini's unmistakable blend of jazz/funk tinged instrumental rock and showcase his technically masterful guitar playing.
Recorded over the course of three years at Forward Studios in his hometown of Rome and in New York City at Avatar Studios, The Sky There’ll Always Be captures listeners’ ears and minds in equal measure. Tracks like “The Great Rush” showcase Iacobini’s impossibly fast salvos of notes and dramatic whammy bar heroics while still retaining an immense understanding of music. Ferocious metal drummer Mike Terrana (Yngwie Malmsteen/Steve Lukather) guests on the track along with bassist Stu Hamm to create the rock solid sonic counterbalance to Iacobini’s aggressive soloing.
The title track, “The Sky They’ll Always Be” pairs soaring melody with intricate guitar work that alternates between languid, soaring riffs and intricate, powerful shredding. Huge and dynamic, the song creates its own gravity and pulls the listener in while Billy Sheehan’s flawless, bass line flows through the song like delicious, liquid sound and drummer Thomas Lang’s finesse and surprisingly delicate playing adds a splashy vibrancy.
Written by Stu Hamm, "18F" is homage to Iacobini’s favorite airplane seat on the flight from the United States to Europe. Iacobini channels John Frusciante on this funky, fusion/rock track which also offers up a slap bass intro courtesy of Hamm and legendary drummer Dave Weckl’s deep-pocket playing is nothing short of perfection.
Iacobini wrote, "When the Angels Come Down" when his grandmother passed away. “In my life, only one person has given to me the certainty to be loved always without limitations. This person is my granny,” says Iacobini. “For this song I have asked the help of my friend Stefano Sastro on keys, Tomy Levin on stick and Mike Terrana on drums.” Plush and textured, the song is fitting tribute to love without limits.
Iacobini is no stranger to collaborating with some of the music industry’s top artists. In 2009 he worked on the release Spirito Libero” from Italian vocalist “Giorgia” which also featured Herbie Hancock, Ronan Keating and Michael Baker among others. In addition, he opened for Tony Levin and Dave Kilmister.
