This is a cover of the classic Wayne Shorter tune from his album 'Speak No Evil'. I played it years ago in a Jazz trio and always liked it. It always sounded modern and fusiony to me. Wayne was always ahead of his time. I really like the chorus and think it's so good I play it twice each time around!
One of my other big influences is Joe Zawinul and the Zawinul syndicate, so in messing about with the tune over the years it has morphed into a witch doctor's polyrhythmic incantation.
The percussion is played on guitar (using the Fishman Triple Play) and uses Sonivox Atsia, Superior Cockytail percussion and Superior drummer 2.
