Jason Becker: performing Caprice No. 5 by N. Paganini - 1987

"I just turned 18 and I was so happy Hurricane gave me this guitar. Uncle Ron filmed me in Gar's studio. I was working on writing the Perpetual Burn album at this time. Marty and I had just finished making Speed Metal Symphony. I had gotten Itzhak Perlman's album of Paganini's 24 caprices. This is the one I wanted to learn first. I bought the sheet music and went to town. I took some liberties so I could play it easier on guitar. I kept trying to play the 4 small note arpeggios with just a pick, but that was too hard, so I used my ring finger and pick; that worked nicely. I was playing on my red Marshall 800 that my parents had gotten me for my high school graduation gift. These were fun times." https://jasonbecker.com/
