( also David Lee Roth, Army of anyone many many recordings) Ava`s dance is a guitar instrumental track that`s Similar to artists like Joe Satriani Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Greg Howell Paul Gilbert, Zakk Wylde, Richie Kotzen, Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen modern rock guitar Techniques shred guitar funky musical instrumental track. Ava’s dance began as the intro funky riff I would play for my granddaughter Ava who would dance around the living room. The melody came to me as a playful childlike blues question-and-answer type of motif. I could hear horns in my imagination as I would play the rhythm and melody back n forth. Although I overdubbed rhythm and lead parts in the recording process it was difficult because I’d always play the parts together as one. The 1/2 time waltz in 6/8 created a ballerina type of dance piece for Ava I tried to go “formal look” in the video for this section. The 5/8 section with the pick slide I call “the chase scene” was told to me that all good chase music is in 5/8 so I challenged myself to make something of that. The solo section is 5/8 also which is a journey itself away from the tonality and feel of the song. The bridge section out of the solo is the Randy Rhodes “crazy train Aeolian blues lick” that he plays on F# that I kept repeating over and over through the descending chords.
