Alex Hutchings: Everyday Intro Solo + Youtuber vs Musician

Everyday Intro Solo
This is an interesting one, in a world where every is polished to perfection somehow does it lose the human quality? Here I was asked my thoughts about YouTubers and real world musicians. Now the trick here is actually hearing youtube musicians live as opposed to their well crafted videos.... I was absolutely astonished, and honestly ashamed and disappointed when I was shown live footage of some well known YouTubers because to me it threw some light on the harsh reality of our current climate of people seemingly spending longer on editing their videos and perhaps practicing their instrument.. I appreciate this is a very controversial topic and there are arguments for both sides but still one thing I would like to promote is the joy and satisfaction from achieving your goals from hard work and determination far out ways editing to make yourself sound better.
I believe deep in the hearts of these guys they'll know they are not as good at what they are presenting and surely that must be very difficult to live with...or maybe not? even if they do have hundreds of thousands or even millions of followers. To me this becomes more about ego than creating music. Although ironically sometimes ego can win you more favour in this world, even so if you are someone that still believes in the craft of playing and making music I sincerely encourage you to get get there and play with others, try to get shows and play live. Connecting people through Music is still one of the most wonderful things we have left in this world, so get out there and play with friends do more gigs and enjoy doing it the right way!
