Derryl Gabel: inspiration strikes!

Back in 2004 I wanted to film myself improvising over the chord changes from my tune Friends from my Visions and Dreams album. I had filmed maybe nine takes and was just about ready to give up because I couldn't capture anything that I felt was inspiring. I took a little break and came back and thought, just relax and don't try to play anything impressive. Just play melodically. That calmed my nerves and then I started to get inspired and I was able to capture a special moment in time. I'm using my 1991 Ibanez USA Custom and am playing through my Mesa Boogie Triaxis and using the Digitech 2120 for FX. The gizmo on my guitar is a Roland GK-2A MIDI pickup. See if you can spot the Allan Holdsworth City Nights lick near the end of my solo.
