Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi
I've been busy so I'll just dive straight in! My big news is something I can barely believe even now, as you don't get much of a higher honour than this.Tony Iommi, the man often cited as creating the heavy metal genre, is releasing a new album this year. I was asked to come to his studio and record the bass parts.
To even meet this musician was beyond what I could ever imagine for my life, but to audition on a track, and be asked to work with him for those few months as we chipped away at his new creations... I still can't fathom it, even after I've listened through our mastered tracks. When I saw Black Sabbath's last ever show, I thought that would be it for Iommi's releases... The metal world is grateful he continues, and I'm beyond thrilled to be a part of this chapter.
I've had to keep this huge secret for so long, and I'm so glad I can finally share it with you all. I'll have plenty more to say on this in the future, but now let's get on with it and listen to the first single 'World Alone'!
Already hurtling fast towards 1 million views on Youtube, 'World Alone' is available on all streaming and digital platforms!
The album writing was a collaboration between Iommi and Norwegian metal vocalist Jørn Lande, with additional writing and production by Mike Exeter. Mike, drummer Karl Brazil (Robbie Williams) and myself do not appear in the footage of this music video, but you can see a quick polaroid of Karl and I on the wall near the start of the video! This is how many fans discovered our involvement through teaser videos.
The full album 'From The Dark' is set for release on the 23rd of October. Pre-orders for the album have already begun!
