Mitch Cowen is an English guitarist, composer, and educator based in the UK, widely recognized in progressive rock and modern instrumental guitar circles for his technical precision, sophisticated harmonic approach, and dynamic versatility. Best known as the lead guitarist for the modern progressive rock and metal outfit The Far Meadow, Cowen has earned acclaim for bridging classic symphonic prog sensibilities with modern shred techniques.

Steeped in the traditions of progressive guitar legends while incorporating cutting-edge modern fusion articulation—such as intricate alternate picking, wide-interval legato, and expressive melodic phrasing—Cowen has established a solid presence as a live performer, studio musician, and online guitar educator. One of my favorite solos from the masterful Allan Holdsworth. My favorite thing about Allan's playing has to be his incredible phrasing. Such a genius composer and improviser.
