Chiara Carcano

Italian Instrumental Guitarist, Ibanez Artist & Expressive Melodic Virtuoso

Biography & Career Overview

Born in Milan, Italy, Chiara Carcano is an electric guitarist, composer, and music educator. Raised in a musical household—her father was a double bass player who fostered her early passion for music—she began playing guitar at the age of nine in 2003, quickly adopting the instrument as her primary creative voice.

Over the past two decades, Carcano developed an expressive instrumental style bridging melodic rock, contemporary fusion, and neo-soul phrasing. An official artist and endorser for Ibanez Guitars, she gained wide recognition online and across the European guitar community for her nuanced phrasing, technical touch, and dynamic cover interpretations of guitar greats like Andy Timmons, Lari Basilio, Mateus Asato, and David Gilmour. Beyond her solo compositions and masterclass educational courses, she actively teaches modern guitar and participates in various live and studio session projects throughout Italy.

Musical Instrumentation & Technical Signature

Expressive Lead Phrasing & Vocal Vibrato
Distinguished by wide, vocal-like vibrato, microtonal string bends, and dynamic volume swells, heavily inspired by modern melodic masters like Andy Timmons, Joe Satriani, and Lari Basilio.
Neo-Soul & Melodic Chord-Melody Voicings
Blends driving rock leads with delicate double-stops, thumb-over fretboard grips, hybrid picking, and ambient clean chordal movement in the style of Mateus Asato.
Technical Articulation & Dynamic Touch
Executes fluid legato runs, tight syncopated grooves, and singing sustain, focusing on emotional narrative arc and note choice rather than purely mechanical shred speed.
Gear & Tone Architecture
Prominent endorser of Ibanez guitars (frequently seen playing AZ series models, including the AZ2204N-AWD and AZ24P1QM-DOB), running through Fractal Audio Systems processors (FM9), DiMarzio pickups, Mogar Music distribution gear, and Magrabò guitar straps.

Artist Note & Listening Experience

Hi darlings, I’m so happy and excited to share with you my new song “Familiar wind”. It’s so precious to me, because it’s like a short but rich story that contains a lot: feelings, memories, presences, breaths, dreams… Maybe it’s just a head trip of mine, but for me Familiar wind is a strong storytelling track.

Before sharing my interpretation, it will be very interesting for me if you tell me what YOU feel while listening to the song.

Turn up the volume, put your headphones on or turn the speakers on, close your eyes and let yourself be carried away by the music atmospheres. Freely, open your heart and let go… Take your time… Breathe…

Then open your eyes, listen to it again, but this time watch the video too. Now ask yourself in which places it carried you, what your feelings are… Please let me know. I care about it because everyone has their own perception. Each of us is unique, has their own story and their own scars. I’m looking forward to your story of Familiar wind.

Concept & Meaning

The word “familiar” isn’t meant to be about family itself, but more as something that you’ve already known, you’ve already felt in another time—whether in the past, in the present, or perhaps in the future. That feeling of “it feels familiar.”

The element of “wind” connects directly with the human breath: the wind as the breath of nature, and the breath of living beings—a living wind.

Familiar Wind is the echo of a feeling that exists beyond time. It carries the warmth of something already known, a sensation that might belong to the past, the present, or perhaps a future we have not yet lived. It’s a gentle, warm wind that we’d hold onto, but it always slips through our hands. Its essence feels distant, almost unreachable, and yet it lives quietly in the deepest part of us, where memory, longing, and gratitude become one.

This piece is an intimate journey through that paradox: something far away, yet deeply familiar. It represents a connection between times, where living beings, nature, places, souls, and the spirits of the past, present, and future come together.

Familiar wind is a hymn to the circle of life, reincarnation, reminiscence, and releasing. Whenever you want to connect with your innermost self, Familiar Wind will be there for you.

Love you all,
Chiara Carcano
