Edu Falaschi: Mi’raj – Studio Report & Guitar Making-Of
Behind the Scenes at Fusão Studios with Victor Franco & Producer Thiago Bianchi
Studio Session Overview
In this installment of the Mi’raj making-of documentary series, fans are taken directly inside Fusão Studios in São Paulo, Brazil, alongside producer Thiago Bianchi to explore the extensive creative process behind the guitar tracking for the album.
Throughout the production of Mi’raj, guitarist Victor Franco played an essential role in crafting and developing the guitar arrangements, uniting technical precision with a refined sense of melody, dynamic control, and distinctive musical identity. The recording sessions extended far beyond simply tracking pre-written parts; they served as an open laboratory for experimenting with diverse approaches, tones, textures, complex harmonies, and phrasing until each individual section discovered its own unique sonic character.
Expanding Beyond Heavy & Power Metal
The conceptual universe of Mi’raj provided the framework to expand beyond the conventional boundaries of heavy and power metal:
- Stylistic Cross-Pollination: Infused elements of 1970s and 1980s progressive rock, modern fusion, and hard rock into the band's core heavy metal vocabulary.
- Arrangement Dynamics: Crushing rhythm riffs coexist alongside delicate melodic lines, intricate harmony layering, atmospheric ambient textures, and emotive, singing solos.
- Intentional Space & Restraint: Focused heavily on dynamic choices—knowing when the guitar should drive the track with aggressive dominance, and when it should pull back to create mood, support the orchestrations, or leave breathing room for the vocal and rhythm sections.
Franco's creative versatility and musical sensitivity proved vital in shaping the final sonic voice of the album, complemented by select featured guest solos contributed by guitarist Diogo Mafra.
