Larkin Poe – Live With Larkin Poe at Sound Emporium Studios

Published on October 24, 2026 | Roots Rock & Live Sessions

Recorded at the legendary Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, this performance captures GRAMMY-winning roots rock duo Larkin Poe delivering one of their signature "unique and personal" live sets — part of Live With, a series from Real Music TV spotlighting live studio performances across rock, country, bluegrass, punk, Americana, and soul.

About the Artist

Larkin Poe is led by sisters Rebecca Lovell (lead vocals, electric guitar) and Megan Lovell (lap steel, dobro, harmony vocals). Raised on a farm outside Calhoun, Georgia, where they were homeschooled and immersed early in classical violin and piano, their father's extensive classic rock record collection shaped their musical instincts long before either sister picked up a guitar.

Rebecca and Megan first performed together as teenagers in The Lovell Sisters, a bluegrass trio with their elder sister Jessica on fiddle. When that group disbanded in 2009, the two sisters regrouped the following year as Larkin Poe — named after their great-great-great-great-grandfather, who was a cousin of author Edgar Allan Poe. Trading mandolin and dobro for electric guitar and lap steel, they reinvented themselves as a grittier, rock-driven act.

A Few Interesting Facts About the Band

Musical Family Ties: Both sisters married fellow professional guitarists — Rebecca to Tyler Bryant of Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown, and Megan to Mike Seal of The Jerry Douglas Band — making guitar virtuosity a family affair.
Festival Breakthrough: Larkin Poe was voted "Best Discovery of Glastonbury 2014" by The Observer after performing at the iconic UK festival.
All-Star Backing: Both sisters have toured as backing musicians for major artists including Elvis Costello, Conor Oberst, and Keith Urban.
GRAMMY Success: Their 2018 album Venom & Faith earned a Grammy nomination, and their 2022 album Blood Harmony won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album — a milestone the sisters have described as completely unexpected.
Independent Control: The duo are almost entirely self-produced, running their own creative process with what Megan has called a "near-telepathic" sibling connection built over more than a decade of playing together.

About This Performance

This Sound Emporium session showcases exactly what's made Larkin Poe one of the most compelling acts in modern roots music — Megan's searing slide guitar work paired with Rebecca's commanding vocals and rhythm playing, delivered with the raw, unpolished intimacy that defines the Live With series.
