Robert Marcello: with BOSS GT-10

Robert Marcello

Swedish Virtuoso Guitarist, Danger Danger Lead Shredder & Master Clinician

Biography & Career Overview

Born on September 9, 1977, in Örebro, Sweden, Robert Marcello is a neoclassical and hard-rock electric guitar virtuoso, clinician, and producer. Immersed in music from a young age, he mastered the Scandinavian shred guitar tradition, drawing equal inspiration from the blazing neoclassical execution of Yngwie Malmsteen and the melodic, blues-infused hard rock soloing of players like Kee Marcello, John Norum, and Paul Gilbert.

Marcello broke onto the international stage in 2003 when he was hand-picked to replace Andy Timmons as the lead guitarist for American melodic hard rock stalwarts Danger Danger. His fiery technique, fluid phrasing, and melodic hooks revitalized the band's live sound and anchored their acclaimed 2009 comeback studio album, Revolve. Beyond Danger Danger, Marcello has led his own neoclassical metal and AOR projects (including Marcello-Vestry and The Defiants), worked extensively as an in-demand session guitarist and clinician across the globe, and served as a flagship demonstrator for Roland and BOSS.

Musical Instrumentation & Technical Signature

Neoclassical Alternate Picking & Speed
Possesses clean, razor-sharp alternate picking mechanics, executing complex harmonic minor scalar sequences, pedal-point riffs, and multi-octave arpeggio sequences at blistering tempos with pinpoint rhythmic definition.
Fluid Legato & Hybrid Picking
Combines expansive left-hand stretch legato with pick-and-finger hybrid picking, allowing him to navigate wide-interval arpeggios, string skips, and pentatonic runs with seamless dynamic smoothness.
Vocal Melodic Phrasing & Wide Vibrato
Despite his virtuosic speed, Marcello anchors his solo construction in strong melodic vocal hooks, emotive pitch bends, and singing, wide vibrato rooted in classic 1980s arena rock.
Gear & Demonstrations
Longtime premier clinician and demo artist for Roland and BOSS, frequently demonstrating high-end digital amp modeling, guitar synthesizers, and compact effects units. Notable for his use of custom high-performance superstrat guitars (including signature models with Caparison Guitars) equipped with Floyd Rose tremolos and high-output humbuckers.
