Brian Auer: Pentatonic Workout Challenge (Mode 2)

DOWNLOAD FREE TAB & BACKING TRACK HERE: https://www.theauermethod.com
So, you have mastered the "Mode 1 Pentatonic Workout Challenge" and are ready for the next round!! Congratulations!
This one is a bit of a tongue twister, so here are a few TIPS to help.
1. Download the PDF tabs and learn each lick correctly. It is best to try and use your ears when learning musical ideas IMO but always check with the music notation to confirm you are correct. Use the fingerings I use in the video as well as explore your own. I give some variation in the video for examples to experiment with.
2. Practice each lick slowly until you can play it 10X with no mistakes and then increase speed gradually using that same rule until you get to the required tempo.
3. Once you can play the lick up to tempo, use the backing track to practice each lick until you can play all 11 licks back to back.
3. Work on minimal hand & pick movement staying relaxed while practicing. Keep in mind, this is not a speed challenge. It is for mastering each mode/pattern and developing strong technique. If you feel your hand tensing up you need to stop, shake it off, and start over remaining completely relaxed. The goal is to be relaxed and proficient while you study the shapes.
Once you have mastered mode 2, it is time to move onto mode 3. I recommend you practice through the playlist up to the next challenge with the goal in mind to be able to play through all 5 giving you a solid 20 minute pentatonic workout. So make sure you save and favorite the playlist for east access and a good reminder to practice!

Brian Auer: Sweep Picking Technique

www.TheAuermethod.com

This is just another old video I made for Facebook that I wanted to share that covers my sweep picking technique. This is my technique. It is not the only way. It is just what works best for me. If you like how my sweeps sound, then this video will give you what you need to know to achieve it and make it your own.

Brian Auer: The Auer Method: a Modern method for Targeting Chords and Pentatonic Mastery

This book will guide you to understand what happens when chords change, why you choose certain notes over certain chords, how modes are affected by chord changes, how chords are related to modes, and how to solo through chord changes on any part of the neck. It will set you up to have a firm grasp of targeting notes over the 1-4-5 Minor 12-Bar Blues which will set you up with the logic and concept to apply to all modes and all chord progressions. The rest will rely on your desire to learn a broader vocabulary of chords and scales, which are the words for creating musical statements. Learning musical and rhythmic phrases will put these words into sentences. My purpose is to help people understand some of the most commonly asked questions I get as a player and a teacher, such as: *How do I play over chords and sound melodic? *How do I target notes without chasing chords around the neck using the same old shape? *How do I know which mode to play over each chord? *How can I sound more musical when I play? These questions can be answered on a very complex level. Fortunately, I discovered a way of using the pentatonic modes to answer them all. And you can get those answers right here in this book. This book will also be valuable to guitar teachers as a curriculum guide and a method of practice.

Brian Auer,Ed To Shred: Guitars Under the Stars - international contest

Guitars Under the Stars
Two phenomenal Oregon guitar players are in the 2nd stage of an international contest competing against players from all over the world. Brazil, Germany, China, Sweden, the Middle East, Italy and more. One contestant's country posted on their website(The country's official website!) to bolster their player... a whole country is voting! Another in South America has his whole town voting. So, we wanted to help our guys compete! We root for Olympic athletes… I can guarantee you that at the level these guys play they've put as much time in practicing as an Olympian. Let’s back these guys up!

You can vote once a day until Nov. 20th. If everyone on this page voted they would make it into the Top 15 for the final Judging round! So, give these guys a couple clicks and show the world that the Northwest kicks out some great musicians!

Just Found out about this from Guzman's Entry, Saw that you could win Superior Drummer which was on my Birthday List but I didn't get it :( ...lol so I figured I'd give it a shot.
Unfortunately I didn't realize you could upload a youtube video to the contest so if you think I should win, or at least place in this, click this link below

Arpeggios connecting them, scale pattern, and classical motif. You will have to excuse the sound quality, I was using my students guitar and equipment. There is some kind of buzz we haven't figured out yet.

Brian Auer: Ibanez guitar solo competition 2013

I recorded it with my POD X3 Live pedal, my Ibanez RG 570? Guitar, and used my HD webcam.

A Little about my attitude and entry,

My entry is a composition.

First thing I did was listen to the track several times. I feel it is important to write something appropriate and showing respect to the music vs shredding every lick I know to impress people. I know these tracks take a lot of work to make so I feel it deserves just as much work to compose a solo over.

I did use some improvisation to come up with the licks and melodies used, but I pretty much heard exactly what to play over it the first few times listening to it. Of course I experimented a little bit too, but it's 100% composed at this point. I used 100% improvisation in the last years contest so I wanted to change it up this year and see what happens ;) I apologize if my melodies are cheesy and infect your ear..lol I'm an 80's kid so it's gonna happen ;)
I know most of you that watch my videos will probably expect some shred, but sorry. I did not hear anything much faster than a triplet over this and I am going with my heart on what I think sounds best VS what my Ego wants to show you (hehe). I really worked hard on deciding what to put on this as far as a melody and tasteful lines so I hope you enjoy it.
I have watched several entries and all i have watched were excellent, so best of LUCK to all that enter ;) POP WORAVIT, thank you for letting us jam over your track.Your solo over was greatly inspiring, I hope i do it justice ;)

Thanks to the judges for taking the time to watch this ;)

This is a good exercise to get started with string Skipping Arpeggios. Includes Tab and Backing Track for Practice.
