My new semi fretless guitar by doroguitars ! Its called Nautilus and it has been built to record my 4th Tolkien inspired Celtic Prog album.
Have I mentioned the album crowdfunder launches at Dec 1st 8pm GMT?
Here is the link to RSVP https://davebrons.bandcamp.com/merch/dec-1st-live-album-crowdfunding-listening-party-with-the-band
I've only been playing it for about 30 mins, but I couldn't resist posting a little video of this melody by Davey Spillane : Caoineadh Cu Chulainn.
There will be stuff like this on the album and a whole lot more Tolkien inspired Celtic Prog too.
Who is tuning in for the live crowdfunding party?

ABOUT this TRACK
This was an improvised composition by myself and Catherine. A lament for those we have loved who have departed. I was reminded of a moment in Tolkien’s The Return of the king when Frodo has been captured and Sam fearing that he might be dead, goes into the enemies tower to save him, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere he recalls the song (an excerpt is below) and starts singing it so loudly that he almost gets discovered!

“Though here at journey's end I lie In darkness buried deep, Beyond all towers strong and high, Beyond all mountains steep, Above all shadows rides the Sun And Stars for ever dwell: I will not say the Day is done, Nor bid the Stars farewell”

I imagine Sam singing this one more time for his beloved friend as he watches Frodo fade over the horizon as he leaves Middle-earth to sail to the undying lands.

In this composition, you are the guitar melody!
You are in a calm, coastal bay. You are under the water, and you watch the waves wash over you. You feel a deep sense of peace.
As the calm takes over you have the courage to explore.
You venture to the surface, over huge breakers.
Eventually you reach the place beyond where the waves break.
The sea calms. Before you is the expanse of the open sea.
Where will it take you?
If you are a Tolkien Fan may Valinor greet you beyond where the waves break !

Composition notes
When I wrote this song I wanted the music to uplift the listener and help them rise up and escape
and soar high above it all.

Often in Tolkien's stories, the Eagles intervened when it seemed like all hope was lost.
I have found that sometimes when you can’t find a way out of a problem, it helps to get up high above it all. To get a bigger perspective and see the way ahead.

This song is written in the Lydian mode and was composed on the mandolin. Composers from John Williams to Steve Vai use this scale to evoke the sound of magic, wonder and flying. The Lydian mode is a major scale with the fourth note raised by a semitone. The disonant #4 interval is what gives this scale such a wonderful mysterious sound.

This track is from a Lord of the Rings inspired epic 14 track album.

About this track : The Song of Illuvatar
Tolkien wrote a creation myth in the Silmarillion, where Illuvatar, The One, creates a melody and bids the heavenly hosts to create a great music. This created a globe of light in the void and the universe was formed. The universe is called EA.
