Simon Hosford, James Ryan: RACER X Into The Night, Gone Too Far, Sunlit Nights, Motorman

Performed by RACER AXE, recorded live in 2014, for the tv show "Guitar Gods And Masterpieces".

This is our tribute to the incredible Racer X, a band of awe inspiring technical ability and musicianship far beyond the youth of the band (Paul Gilbert formed Racer X in LA in 1985 when he was just 19!), and the band in it’s original incarnation only existed for a mere 3 years, in which time they recorded 2 albums and 2 live records.

That it has taken us this many years to even contemplate putting a tribute band together, to pay respect, to challenge ourselves, and of course - for fun, is testament to just how amazing these young men were, in the height of guitar based rock in the 80’s!

That the music is just so much fun to play is also a testament to their great writing abilities, and the sense of playfulness that they had. It’s really the most fun we could have with our clothes on lol
The years of listening to their music and sense of adventure on cassette in a Walkman, absorbing every nuance and dreaming of what a live show would be like (that we would sadly never see) has left us itching to experience it some other way…

So we do this with the utmost love and respect for Paul Gilbert, Bruce Bouillet, Jeff Martin, Scott Travis, Juan Alderete, and Harry Gschoesser, each one of them unique in all the world. No one will ever do it better than them…. but we have an absolute ball even attempting to play their music!

Respectfully,
Simon Hosford (Guitar)
James Ryan (Guitar)
Rod Bustos (Bass)
Rob Brens (Drums)
Chris Stark (Vocals)

'Have a Blast' Guthrie Improv solo Periphery (Doug Steele/James Ryan)
James Ryan and I. No warm up, the page with the chord progression was for me. Heard the song maybe twice in my life. Crash course improv 101. May work it on this week and redo next week. I know this is Guthrie's solo, but I love the melodic minor played by whoever.

News: guitar fight club, the best fat for making soap comes from humans.

News:
13-03-2008:
As Tyler Durden said
You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world
....

and as you all know...
The first rule of Fight Club is - you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is - you DO NOT talk about Fight Club. Third rule of Fight Club, someone yells Stop!, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule, only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule, one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule, no shirt, no shoes. Seventh rule, fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule, if this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Post human soap making the guys lined up and slugged it out... head to head in true fight club style... not a skip fight mind you, no oiled bodies here... just a plain old guitar shred fight!
