Just a little bit of solo guitar, been a while since I recorded one of these! Also, got a new video from the album recording dropping next week, so keep an eye out for it!https://juandhas.bandcamp.com/album/aether
What to say other than Sylvain Luc was an immense inspiration...Probably haven't been this gutted since Holdsworth passed on. Sylvain was the one that inspired me to switch to fingers. Not only that, but his touch, sound, intent and sheer personality were fascinating to listen to, and will forever be a huge influence for me.
I'm not usually one for "video tributes", but here are a few humble notes in honour of a true master. Thanks for all the music, Sylvain 🙏🏻
Scratch solos and more scratch solos. Another tune almost ready to send out!

Trying to improvise compositionally, and follow my ears while keeping things cohesive. A nice way to shed after some transcription work. Hope you enjoy!

Perspectives: What Goes Into Crafting an Original/Unique Voice?
Not usually a contest kind of guy, but I figured I'd have a run at recording a super last minute entry, as I was having a blast playing over the track. Feels good to be playing in as close to a live context as possible for now (and also a bit of an opportunity to let loose)!
P.S. - Go check out Jack's new album "Escapades" if you haven't already, it's absolutely killer!

"Lark Lane" (Jack Gardiner) - Solo Contest Entry - Juan Dhas #jackgardinersolocontest
A bit of an improv after shedding some linear ideas, seeing how practicing never-ending streams of 16ths impacts my regular phrasing. Gets you out of a few ruts and into some unexpected places! Hope you enjoy!

Here's a recent collab with one of my good friends from Berklee, Wesley Xavier Yurovchak, a fantastic drummer who sent me this groove the other day. Thought I'd play around and see what I could come up with over it.
Still remember playing and improvising some stuff with Wes in Berklee ensemble rooms, exploring new ideas. While it's only as off-the-cuff as one can get over internet, this one brought back many memories! Hope you enjoy!

Some may have noticed that I didn't get to upload a lesson last weekend, as I was over in Abu Dhabi, playing for the new Berklee facility over there! Be sure to go check out the full stream available via their YouTube channel (which I'll link below). A huge thank you to Mayssa Karaa, Gael Hedding and Berklee Abu Dhabi for the invite, and for having us play! Feels great to be performing again!
Show line-up:
Mayssa Karaa - Voice
Yarub Smarait - Violin
Anthony Muthurajah - Drums
Prathit Kadam - Keyboards
A 2nd experiment while stuck in the house! This time decided to record some single note ideas with a drive, and set up my Zoom's mic to pick up the acoustic sound (for just a smidge of high end). Hope you enjoy!

A brief clip of the solo I took on "Alma" at the Festival Guitarra Bogotá back in May. Playing with this phenomenal trio is always a treat, and looking forward to recording/writing/performing more with them. Enjoy!
A huge thank you goes out to everyone that came out to support that night, and to Jacobo Álvarez/the team at Locus Espacio Creativo for having us! Stay tuned for more videos and gig announcements soon!

Finally getting a hold of some of the video footage from the release show for "Catharsis" last week at Locus Espacio Creativo! Will hopefully be able to put some of it together for some highlights of the night once I get some of the recorded audio from the venue.
However, until then, I did want to share this little clip with you all! Here's some direct camera footage of a solo/the final melody over "Deeper Spirit"! Keep an eye out for more footage in the weeks to come!

After months of writing, I'm finally ready to create and release my second album, "Catharsis"! I've been hard at work with writing and recording demos (one of which you can hear in the campaign video), and I'm incredibly excited to have you along for the ride to help bring this project to life. Thank you for your consideration and please do read on to find out more about the process and what's been going on behind the scenes!
