Jude Gold, Jason Becker: These are the first two takes of a long recording session

These are the first two takes of a long recording session with Jude Gold (Jefferson Starship). We will probably go with an acoustic take he did later in the day, but it is fun to see how things start. This is for my friend, Gary Rosenberg's version of Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind," on which I wrote the guitar solo. We all love Jude. Mike Bemesderfer was in a band with him when they were teenagers. I will be on his podcast, "No Guitar is Safe," very soon. Video by Jonathan Ruchlis.

Jude Gold: UK tour dates with Jefferson Starship

Jefferson Starship were created by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Jefferson Airplane founder Paul Kantner and David Freiberg, a former Jefferson Airplane member and co-founder of the legendary Quicksilver Messenger Service. The band, descended from Jefferson Airplane – who performed at Monterey and Woodstock, at Altamont with the Rolling Stones, and shared the bill countless times with Grateful Dead & Janis Joplin, and whose music helped define a generation focused on civil rights, environmental awareness and anti-war activism – is set to perform their 2,000th concert since they first soared in 1974 … following the 1972 dissolution of Jefferson Airplane.

2011 proved another remarkable year for the stalwart, iconic band – whose diverse projects and performances included their first ever symphony engagement, broadcast across the U.S. on HDNET … their first foray into opera and electronica with “Blade Runner Against The Empire” extravaganzas, including a performance at Dragon-Con Atlanta – one of the world’s largest sci-fi & comic book conventions … along with their usual plethora of concerts at top shelf venues.

Documentary Film Showing: Not Dead Yet
East Bay Center for Performing Arts
Richmond, CA

Event
Documentary Film Showing: Not Dead Yet On Sunday July 22nd, the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts will present the moving documentary film "Not Dead Yet" which chronicles the dramatic life experiences of guitarist Jason Becker. This event, which coincides with Jason's 43rd birthday, will honor an acclaimed musician who grew up and still lives in Richmond, California while also benefiting the work the of the East Bay Center, which offers instruction in music, dance and theater to the youth of Richmond's Iron Triangle Neighbourhood.
Amongst the known attendees for the show is Nili Brosh a big fan of Jason Becker.
Jude Gold:
Wielding Jason Becker's original Peavey signature model guitar (on loan from Jason), guitarist Jude Gold plays Becker's great solo on the David Lee Roth song, "It's Showtime," from the 1991 Roth solo album A Little Ain't Enough. (This clip was filmed at a soundcheck in a bar the night before Jude performed the song at the sold-out "Not Dead Yet" Jason Becker benefit concert at Slim's, San Francisco, March 2011, at which Becker was in attendance.) RIG: Mesa/Boogie Stiletto Deuce through a Marshall 4x12 cabinet.

The famous Becker solo starts at 0:15.

Filmed by Edward Studebaker

From Wikipedia: A Little Ain't Enough is the third full-length album by David Lee Roth (of Van Halen), released in 1991. It was certified gold on April 11, 1991. Produced by Bob Rock, the album featured the lead guitar work of Jason Becker, a then up-and-coming guitarist who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, aka Lou Gehrig's Disease) a week after joining the band. He managed to finish recording the album, but was unable to tour in support of the album, as his condition left him with little strength in his hands.

Welcome to Bo ~ EL Guitar Company. Specialized Customizing and building Guitars. Bo ~ EL Guitar Company is based in Zutphen. Owner and founder of the Bo ~ El Guitar Company is Huub Boel, born in The Hague in 1950. Huub is a music freak. This love was born in the 50s and 60s in the Hague-band circuit. He got himself in 1967 for the first guitar from a friend and joined in 1969 to 1971, the band "Yellow Butterfly" from Vlaardingen. After 20 years have been passive (and even all his equipment and guitars sold it) in September 1991 he bought an acoustic guitar and a few months later an electric. In particular, the electric guitar was an eyesore. The big ugly plastic plate and bolted neck is definitely not for the craftsmanship of construction tools. The technical background of Huub and carefully sifting through the history of this brand gave a clear conclusion: This guitar was developed solely from the viewpoint to a cheap "guitar" to build. A logical consequence because the currently available to many guitars were "destitute" musicians not to play.
