Many thanks for supporting your local, independent musicians. Stay warm (unless you are traveling through the Sahara, then stay cool) and have a great holiday!

Scott Mosher: Oceans Of Night 2

This is modern heavy metal in collision with soaring, dynamic melodies wrapped in a tapestry of percolating ambience. With a heavy dose of epic thematic musical structure, this is music that makes a bold and powerful statement. As the enigmatic and mysterious name suggests, Oceans of Night is a modern rock band - equal parts progressive metal and modern rock wrapped around powerful vocal melodies and evocative guitar work served with a distinct ambient flavor.

Domain is the second CD release from the hybrid progressive metal band, Oceans of Night. Following up The Shadowheart Mirror in 2009 (and 4 previous CDs recorded eponymously under the Scott Mosher name), Domain features a continued and refined focus on the staples of the Oceans of Night sound: modern heavy metal colliding with soaring, dynamic melodies wrapped in a tapestry of percolating ambience. With a heavy dose of epic thematic musical structure, this is music that makes a bold and powerful statement.

Rising from the ashes of the eponymous solo band lead by musical mastermind Scott Mosher, from 1996 through 2004, Oceans of Night also features vocal powerhouse Scott Oliva (Live After Death, The Nightmare Stage, Inner Strength, Driven). Oceans of Night released their dark and crushing debut CD, The Shadowheart Mirror, in June of 2009. The new CD, to be released in the summer of 2011, promises to be a haunting, dynamic and epic musical statement... and you can cash those words in at your local bank.

Through the course of 6 CD’s, multi-instrumentalist Scott Mosher has bridged the worlds of progressive metal, melodic hard rock and ambient music to create an experimental yet complimentary style of ambient metal that is at once as subtle as it is powerful, aggressive as it is dynamic and timeless as it is modern. Scott Oliva continues to perform in the legendary NY Iron Maiden tribute band, Live After Death and The Nightmare Stage. He has also written, performed and recorded with Wind Wraith, Inner Strength, Last Vision Black and Driven. The Scott’s had first worked together on Mr. Mosher’s 4th CD release, Deep Horizon, in 2006. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/oceansofnight2

Scott Mosher: Oceans of Night - Domain - the new C

DOMAIN is the second CD release from progressive metal band, Oceans of Night, and consists of multi-instrumentalist (guitar, keyboards, bass) Scott Mosher, powerhouse vocalist Scott Oliva (Live After Death, The Nightmare Stage, Inner Strength) and the Talented Mr. Smithee (drums and percussion). Mixed and mastered by Joey Vera (Fates Warning, Armored Saint, Engine) DOMAIN features a refined focus on the staples of the Oceans of Night sound: soaring vocal melodies, evocative guitar solos, sophisticated rhythm structures, and dynamic song arrangements wrapped in a tapestry of percolating ambience. Epic and cutting edge, this is music that makes a bold and powerful statement.

Scott Mosher indicates that his latest opus, Oceans of Night, will get a late summer release on 30th August 2011. more

Scott Mosher: Oceans Of Night

Scott Mosher:
Hi Folks. We're wrapping a few songs for the upcoming CD, due out this summer. Should be a pretty special slice of ambient progressive metal. Should make many people re-evaluate their life.... ok well, that's a little strong but you get the point.

Here's the OFFICIAL OCEANS OF NIGHT Facebook page, so LIKE IT. Thanks! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Oceans-of-Night/144942778901674

Scott Mosher: photographic Californian journey

There are a number of players with significant interests outside guitar playing. Magnus Olsson for example is an excellent photographer. Scott Mosher has a similar interest:
For those who are curious, I've just self-published a new photography book, THE VIEW FROM THERE:

http://www.scottmosher.com/theviewtothere/

THE VIEW TO THERE is a 100-page 9x7 soft cover book with over 130 full-color photographs that documents some of the truly awe-inspiring outdoor landscapes of the fine state of California. It seems there's a little bit of everything within a days travel and hopefully the pictures in this book do the locations a bit of visual justice. The old adage "you have to see it for yourself" certainly applies, but hey, I did the driving and the suffering for your viewing pleasure. You don't even have to leave the comforts of your home to visit some of these truly remarkable places. In short, enough visual inspiration to make Bob Ross cry tears of pure inspirational pleasure (those happy little clouds would be so... happy.)

Scott Mosher: new web site

Hi folks, just a quick little message to inform you that my website has been revisited, reconstructed, reconstituted, reconfigured and any other adjective that begins with the prefix "re". Insert here: __________.

I've posted a plethora of design projects, photos in the galleries, press materials (downloadable PDFs) CD reviews and songs (samples and full-length mp3's) so there's plenty of free stuff to wrap your ears around if you feel so inclined. Who's going to argue with free stuff?

Anyhow, this has been the most significant website overhaul I've ever attempted and managed, so the changes are many, plenty and hopefully, effective.

Again, thank you for your time, attendance and support - and now back to your regularly scheduled day.

Scott Mosher: an end to ambience

News:
11-06-2008:
Scott Mosher is back and is working on a new heavy aggressive-progressive project... wot no more ambience! Scott's MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/scottmosher

Scott says: Well, I just thought I'd drop a little science on the violence that is studio recording. I'm currently doing it - recording, that is, not astrophysics. I've pulled around 6-8 songs from the 2001-2005 vault as original inspiration to get me motivated into creating and recording some new music a few months back, then, *BAM* in the last 2 months, I literally have written 6 brand new songs.

And I think they are quite good. Well, hopefully they'll be quite good. We'll see. I just finished up a 7-minute heavy aggressive-progressive instrumental track that is going to be my first recording of the new songs - nothing like getting your chops in place writting 32nd and 64th notes to low-B tuned instrumental guitar tracks in 7/4, 4/4 and alternating 5/4 3/4 meters.

Hopefully I'll have more pertinent information as it becomes apparent WHERE this is all going, but suffice to say, I'm ready to move forward with a new CD at some point. And hopefully, I'll have some vocal assistance as well. More to come. Back to the dodgeball courts, for the time.

Scott Mosher: thoughts from an ambient mind

20-08-2007:
Scott Mosher is back in town and here's the scoop:

Scott says:
All songs are now free. That's right, 4 full-length CD's worth of music, from the ambient new age rock of AMBIENT EARTH (1996), the neo-progressive cyber rock of VIRTUALITY (2001), the refined progressive
pop/rock/metal hybrid INFERNO (2004) through the crushing yet melodic progressive metal of DEEP HORIZON (2006.) Yes, these are full length songs direct from the CD. No, they aren't remixes, song edits, mono channel backwater dubs or subliminal messages (damn!) Yes, there's no strings attached, no hidden agenda's, no ulterior motives. No, there's no if ands or buts. So what are you waiting for? Consider this an invitation to download to your hearts (and computer hard drive's) content.

The full length CDs are still available for purchase as well, just follow the link below for all your audio exploration needs. Thanks for your time, patience and attendance. Your friendly neighborhood Nice Guy, Scott Mosher

Background:
Scott Mosher has been an independent self-financed musician for over 15 years. Scott is also a professional graphic artist. His music captures the best of ambient moods and progress guitar. The end result is:

"an evocative mix of sometimes disparate musical genres and artistic motivation into an invigorating, dramatic whole. One could use the term experimental but his vision remains dynamic, progressive and modern."

His first CD, Ambient Earth, was released in 1996. In 2001 he released the CD Virtuality, followed by Inferno in 2004. His latest CD, Deep Horizon, is a heady cocktail of heavy guitar-driven rock, mixed with ambient/trance music.
