George Lynch: souls of we video

About Souls Of We

The collective foursome known as Souls Of We marks a new beginning for legendary guitarist George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) and Charismatic frontman London Legrand (Brides Of Destruction). Lynch and Legrand came together by a chance meeting on Melrose. "Back when George was putting together Lynch Mob, I read in a magazine that he was looking for a singer" explains Legrand. "I made a home-made audition tape on my jam box and sent it to his manager, but I never got a call back. Anyway, years later I'm standing on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood and I see George. I decided I didn't have anything to lose, so I walked up to him and said, How come you never got back to me on that tape? He looked confused at first and then started laughing."We hit it off immediately and he invited me to come check out a new batch of songs he was working on. He gave me a tape of music, and that night I went home and finished 3 songs. The chemistry between Lynch and Legrand was instant and undeniable. "London is a unique visionary and poet" states Lynch. "His words are powerful and descriptive. I feel like I have finally found my musical soulmate. Rounding out the line-up is powerhouse drummer Yael (Tom Morello, Alex Skolnick) and bassist Johny Chow (Systematic, Fireball Ministry). "Souls Of We is a dream band where I got to pick and chose players not because one is more famous than the other, but because I really respect and want to play with these people" states Lynch.
"We auditioned many technically great drummers, but something was missing" says Lynch. "When Yael walked in, she brought the swagger and sleaze we were looking for as well as technical ability." Having played all styles of music, from performing with full orchestras to playing with rock bands, Yael is well versed in music and her musical depth is unmatched in the drumming world. Chow and Lynch were introduced by a mutual friend. "A friend of mine kept telling me that George and I would hit it off and that I would be perfect for his new project. Yael was already in the picture, and I had already played in 3 other bands with her, so I knew the Chemistry was there. After hearing the music, I knew this could be something great. With all of the elements of danger, lust, life, rebellion and love, Souls Of We have crafted one of the most honest and brilliant albums of the decade. Their explosive debut effort, "Let The Truth Be Known" is a modern rock album that can't be pigeonholed to any time or genre. From sex fueled rockers ("Push It", "Come and Go") to songs about inner demons and personal struggles ("January"), this band of Rock 'N' Roll saviors is making music that's both honest and innovative. Lynch and Legrand originally started crafting the songs that would ultimately make up "Let The Truth Be Known" four years ago. However, the project was temporarily put on hold for a couple of years while Lynch worked on various projects and Legrand joined Brides Of Destruction, the band featuring Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue and Traci Gunns from LA Guns. After the Brides split, Legrand and Lynch rekindled their partnership and finished work on their most ambitious project yet. Let The Truth Be Known was self produced in various studios around LA and mixed by Mudrock (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack).

Kaki King: new cd announced

new record and shows!
Hi friends!

I know I've been out of touch for a while. I've been working diligently, I promise. Without giving it much of a to-do, I'm happy to announce that I'm almost done recording my fifth album. I worked again with Dreaming of Revenge producer, Malcolm Burn, at his lovely studio up in Kingston, NY. We've got another week of tracking ahead of us and then we'll be ready to release in the new year. YAY!

Instrumental (pun intended) to the making of this record were the handsome and brave Dan Brantigan, whom you should all know by now, and the newest addition to the family, on the drums (and symbols) [oh I'm horrid tonight], Mr. Jordan Perlson. I don't know much about Jordan other than he knows the difference between a good taqueria and a damn good taqueria, but we are looking forward to having a more profound relationship than that. I imagine we'll be having deep conversations about hypothetically breeding a cat and dog together and whether you'd name it a dat or a cog. Or a fekaline. Gross. I digress!

I would like to extend to all of you a big invitation to our show on December 12 (12/12!) at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY. We haven't played in New York since this summer. Show starts at 9 and we are extremely excited to have Rose Parade as support for us. This will be your one and only opportunity to hear us play a ton of new material while we're still underehearsed (that can't be a real word) and don't know how to play anything properly yet.

After the Holidays we are headed back down under to OZ. Extremely excited to get a tan in January. Check the dates!

Tonight my family and I decided to put together a 1000 piece puzzle of Van Gogh's Room at Arles. We all requested music to puzzle by and my dad put on, what else, Erasure. When I told my mom she was married to a gay man she absentmindedly squeaked, "ooh I love Neil Gaiman." Then my dog ate one of the puzzle pieces. Pretty average night around here.

love, kk

Allan Holdsworth: Propensity 1978

Allan Holdsworth/Danny Thompson/John Stevens: Propensity

Allan Holdsworth (guitars); Danny Thompson (bass); John Stevens (drums).

Art of Life Records is pleased to present a previously unreleased recording by three legendary British musicians. Bassist Danny Thompson (Pentangle, John Martyn, Tubby Hayes, Bert Jansch, Richard Thompson), guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Igginbottom, Nucleus, Tempest, Soft Machine, Gong, Bruford, U.K., Tony Williams New Lifetime) and drummer John Stevens (Spontaneous Music Ensemble, Tubby Hayes, Derek Bailey). Recorded at Island Studios, St. Peter's Square, in London, England on September 4th & 5th, 1978, "Propensity" includes two extended length group improvised tracks which prominently feature guitarist Allan Holdsworth on electric guitar ("It Could Have Been Mono") as well as 12-string acoustic guitar ("Jools Toon"). Other than the brief track, "Gone Sailing", from the album "Bundles" by Soft Machine recorded in 1975, this is the only known recording of Holdsworth soloing on a 12-string acoustic guitar. Holdsworth can be heard soloing throughout 90% of both tracks except during a few brief bass and drum solos. All tracks have been professionally mastered using 24-bit digital technology.

The new CD from the Austrian Guitarist Peter Greier, guitar music not just for guitarists and brilliant composition spiced with excellent playing. Between rocking fusion and catchy tunes and some jazzflavour now and then. Ffeaturing Alex Machacek playing a Solo on "Hendi" and the Austrian Popidol winner Michi Tschuggnall. More info

Austrian born guitarist Peter Greier started his musical journey at the age of six singing in the church!
Learning trumpet at the age of thirteen he switched to guitar one year later. While the first years of playing were mainly self-taught, he studied guitar seriously at the Conservatory of Innsbruck/Austria and the Munich Guitar Institute (MGI) with additional lessons by some of the finest players on the planet (Steve McKenna, Frank Gambale, David Becker,).
In the 80s to the early 90s he played in the local rockband «Precious Stone», releasing the Cd «feel it tonight».
As a session player he was hired for various musicals like «rent», »jesus christ superstar», »little shop of horrors», »Hair», »Grease» and several bands from rock to funk to fusion. Since 2003 he is in the band of Austrian’s Pop Idol winner Michael Tschuggnall.
Although since the very beginning of his musical carrier he was writing songs, it took many years to come to bring out his first solo release «eat this!» in 2009, featuring some of Austria’s finest musicans like Christian Wegscheider, Willi Langer and Alex Machacek. By merging all the different influences and styles he grew up playing and listening to, «eat this!» seems to cause quite an international stir not only to the worldwide guitar community.

Alex Machacek: The Official Triangle Sessions (LIVE)

Alex Machacek/Jeff Sipe/Neal Fountain: The Official Triangle Sessions (LIVE)

Alex Machacek (guitar); Jeff Sipe (drums); Neal Fountain (bass).

2008 Release. This was a special weekend of music. Alex Machacek, Jeff Sipe and Neal Fountain performed three nights of music during the last weekend of June in North Carolina. It was the very first time that Alex and Neal met. Neal Fountain hails from the musical hotbed of Athens, GA, and has been playing professionally from the age of 14. Best known as a sideman to Col. Bruce Hampton and the Fiji Mariners (a post-A.R.U. project of Hamptons) and drumming phenom Jeff Sipe. Neals name is on the short list of greater Atlanta's finest musicians.

Matt Garrison was originally scheduled to play with Alex and Jeff as part of the Improvision DVD Shoot. However we had to postpone the DVD shoot because of scheduling conflicts. Neal came on a very short notice and played just great with Alex and Sipe. It got better with every night. So this music is from the final performance from Raleigh. Beautiful moments throughout the entire evening.

Derek Frigo: remembered

Derek Frigo, the former guitarist for Enuff Z'Nuff, died on May 28 of an apparent drug overdose. He was 37.

The son of singer/actress Brittney Browne and violinist/songwriter Johnny Frigo, Derek originally planned on pursuing a career in plastic surgery. But the influence of musicians like Kris Kristofferson and Eddie Van Halen soon inspired him to become a professional guitarist.

Frigo released his debut album, "LeMans," when he was only 19 years old. In 1988, he joined the Chicago-based glam rock band, Enuff Z'Nuff. The group scored two hit singles, "New Thing" and "Fly High Michelle," off its self-titled album and was named the "hot new band" of 1991 by Rolling Stone magazine.

Frigo played with the band until 1992, then moved to Los Angeles to work on new material and learn how to produce and engineer music. He recently reunited with Enuff Z'Nuff to perform on the upcoming album, "?" and planned to tour with the band overseas.

The energetic guitarist also spent more than a decade battling drug and alcohol addiction. Seven months ago, he sent his family a letter that vowed sobriety, but was unable to sustain a life of clean living.

A bit of rhythm, and some fast playing, for those that are more interested in the high gain sounds of the MKV.. This is Ch. 3 on the Mark IV setting, with the same specs as my last video, except with more gain!

The mic has moved around a bit since the last video, as you may be able to tell.. Either way, its a really FAT tone!
