Hedras Ramos: magacin-gt interview

Hedra Ramos Jr. leads me through the living and dining rooms, the studio enabled on the side of his residence. We accompanied her father and CECI. The available space is relatively small, due to the large number of instruments, speakers and digital recording equipment that fill the narrow environment: two electric guitars, a bass with five strings and various keyboards.

Hedras turn on your computer, open the Pro Tools program and choose the song Dead atom (Atom dead). A couple of clicks and the music emerges from the speakers with power and virtuosity: syncopated guitar riffs, a rhythm-full of mishaps that add complexity to the melody, which is adorned and enriched by very rapid and perfect themselves.

My entry for Marco Sfogli's Shred This Too.

Big thanks to all the judges, especially Tom for being such a fantastic teacher, and Laurie for opening my eyes to some of the most talented people on this planet.

Tones are coming from a Zoom G9.2tt modelling a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. I don't personally like the unit, I should be getting Guitar Rig Session in a few days, but I couldn't resist the urge to enter!

Guitar is a stock Mexican Strat with Sperzel Locking Tuners. I'm tuned in Perfect 4ths (E A D G C F)

If you like what you see then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE subscribe! This is the first of many videos, I'm going to be uploading a range of material in the next couple of months, ranging from Bach and Kreutzer to Marco Sfogli and Adam Nitti.

Happy new year!

Brian Poulsen: Guitar Demon Monk

Visiting us from the otherside, Guitar Demon Monk Willard Nixxon summons forth his minions to begin the necro-swarm on the countdown to 2012...hexatonically septaphonic harmonic contours articulated through sheer blithercasting that creates note densities so thick, that you need an X-ray tube to properly enjoy the events erupting at this 'undeadly' velocity!

News: instrumental case is back!

Remember the guitar sucks video series... well he's back... This from Dave B
Welcome to!

This is a cool site that focuses on instrumental guitar music and virtuoso guitar players (formerly I’m really excited about this re-launch, and with it I hope to bring you a lot of new interviews, gear / CD / instructional reviews, lessons, videos, and whatever else I can offer up to the almighty guitar gods and guitar fans. By the way, my name’s Dave. That’s me squinting over there...

Mostly, I’m a guitar geek, but I’m also a normal geek who collects weird stuff like bizarre toys, funny baseball cards, and over-priced effects pedals. I go to college, teach kids the git-fiddle, film skateboard videos, and do other stuff, too, probably.

I got into virtuoso instrumental guitar music when I was 13 years old, and I started the InstruMental Case site when I was around 17 (for reference, I’m almost 21 now). The site was basically inspired by the success of my YouTube guitar video compilation series, “Guitars SUCK”. Many viewers were interested in learning more about the guitarists I featured in the videos, so I started a website and started interviewing all the players who I love listening to. Developing the site was a lot of fun, and I got to meet some of my heroes in the process, but eventually school and life distracted me from ever updating the thing.

Anyway, that kinda brings us to now! I’ve relaunched the site on this altered domain with a brand new, nifty web-design. It’ll probably take me awhile to migrate all the old site’s content over, but in the meantime, I’ll be adding lots of new stuff. I hope to make this one a bit more personal and community-friendly. I’ve started a blog where I’ll post any news and site updates (and whatever else I randomly feel like), so check it out and comment back!
