A great opportunity people:
Time 18 October at 22:30 - 30 October at 01:30
Location Los Angeles

Dears All,

Tiziana Hurd speaking, Pres. Sol Music Mmgt and Mark Boals Manager.

I'm working to put together a line-up for a possible USA tour 2011.

Mark Boals will be touring in South America from 1st October for 15th October 2011 and I would love to get a possible USA tour from 18th October to 30 October 2011.

Please you don't ask if the tour is already booked for 2 reasons:
1. I'm not a booking Agent, I'm his Manager
2. I have to put together the line-up first, and then I will have to pass the band press release to the possible Americans Agents to book his tour.

Please you don't ask me about fee per show for 2 reasons:
1. When the band will be together, it will be the Agent to let me know the possible fee per show.
2. When I will have the complete tour confirmed and then the complete tour amount in US$, I will discuss with my Artist to get an agreement regarding your % per show.

Leslie West: lost leg save his life... and menas there is a new CD

'Leslie West' will release the new solo album, 'Unusual Suspects', on Monday September 19th. The album follows the recent news that West underwent life-saving surgery on June 17th, when his leg was amputated above the knee. While an ordeal such as this would surely deter other artists, West insisted on honouring the 'Unusual Suspects' album release date in September.
Released by Provogue Records, 'Unusual Suspects' features West performing alongside an all-star hand-picked line-up of the world's finest guitar players, including Slash, blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa, Black Label Society front man and ex-Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbon and Toto's Steve Lukather. 'Unusual Suspects' is West's first album since 2006's 'Blue Me'.
"These guys don't just show up to play on everybody's albums," says West on his special guests and the album's title. "They're all stars in their own right, and fantastic players - everyone with their own sound and style, about as far from the usual suspects as it gets."

Tony MacAlpine: Marco Minnemann MI gig announced

Tony Macalpine & Band Featuring Marco Minnemann In Concert
| Jul 14, 2011

Glen Drover: Shred Sells… But Who's Buying?

“One of the things I’m most proud of on this album is that there’s no trickery,” he continues “As you know, there’s a lot of trickery that goes on these days with auto-tuning vocals, tweaking the guitars and drums. There’s nothing like that on Metalusion. It’s just really good musicianship; all the guys are great players and we just took our time doing it. We’re really happy about the fact we did it the old school way. It’s cool that people are able to construct songs and make music using these computer programs that are out there, but to have the drummer actually playing all the parts and getting the best performance possible put to tape, for example, that’s the best.”

Of the 10 tracks featured on Metalusion, Drover opted to do five cover tracks: Al Dimeola’s ‘Egyptian Danza’, two pieces by violinist and jazz composer Jean-Luc Ponty (‘Don’t Let The World Pass You By’, ‘Mirage’), and a pair of Frank Zappa classics, ‘The Purple Lagoon’ and ‘Filthy Habits’. Drover agrees that playing covers straight can be a bore, so he and his bandmates shot for a balance between remaining faithful to the originals and creative license.

“We went in with the intention of doing the covers properly in terms of construction; all the rhythm stuff. And then the leads… on the Ponty track ‘Mirage’ I kept the intro lead the same because I really love that part. A lot of the stuff that’s on the record, though, whether it’s me or one of the guest guitarists or Jim (Gilmour/keys), we just went by feel and did our own thing rather than trying to copy the original. I guess we tried to make more modern, harder versions of those songs.”

“Also, we wanted to make sure the songs didn’t all sound the same. That’s another thing I’m really happy about, that we were able to make the tracks sound different yet make the album cohesive so the tracks all sounded like they belonged together. Even the covers being alongside the originals sound like a perfect match. It’s funny, because sometimes when I listen to the album I don’t even think of the cover tracks as being covers because of the flow (laughs). It all fits together.” more

George Lynch: Son of Scary... a scary chip off the old block?
Jeb: We have to talk about the song “Son of Scary.” Where did this come?

George: I have always thought about doing something completely new instrumentally, or an instrumental record, which I have never got around too.

The idea to do “Son of Scary” came from a few years ago when Guitar Hero called me and wanted to buy “Mr. Scary” and put it on Guitar Hero. I thought it was an honor that they would do that and I really wanted to see it happen. The thing is, that back in the Dokken days, I was a big proponent of splitting everything up equally. I wrote the song but I split the credits up equally. I didn’t realize that would give away control of the song as everyone owns it equally. Back in the day, when you’re coming up, you come from nothing and you have nothing, so if somebody wanted to use one of our songs and give us money then, of course, we would have all agreed to that. All these years later, there was one person in the band that, out of spite, wanted to block it, legally, even though they would have gotten a quarter of the money. Guitar Hero got scared away. The only thing left to do was to write another tune, so I got with Fred Coury and went to his studio and recorded “Son of Scary.” The ironic thing is that by the time we got around to doing it, Guitar Hero was out of business. more

George Lynch: guitar world interview... new solo album on the way

How did your interests in tinkering and guitars come together?

My dad was an audiophile appreciator, and he had a lot of old stereo equipment when stereo first happene. We had all this reel-to-reel and headphone equipment and he'd make us sit there and listen to all this music. A lot of it was classical and flamenco guitars, jazz guitar, which got me interested initially. Also, being there when Beatlemania occurred didn't hurt either. My name was George and the guitar player in the Beatles was named George, so I put two and two together.

A few years after I started playing guitar, the Four Horsemen — Hendrix, Page, Clapton and Beck — came along. I learned to play their records by plugging my guitar into an old console stereo. I would plug my guitar into the headphone input, which distorted the signal and forced it out of the speaker. That eventually killed the circuitry, but that was my first amplifier.

John Petrucci: discusses drummers

Thomas Lang and Virgil Donati were not chosen because they have a tendency to over-interpret and modify the original musical parts. Did you specifically mention at the start of the auditions that you did not want people to do this?

We just told everybody from the beginning that we wanted them to learn the songs so we’d able to have something to play and see how it felt. We didn’t specifically tell anybody what to do. We just told everybody to learn these three songs. Then they all came in and played them. Some people learned them perfectly and some people… I mean, pretty much all the guys learned the songs, for sure. Everybody was very prepared and very professional. It’s just that some guys played it exact. more
