OK, here is the news, Derryl Gabel is in the process of delivering a new DVD, the test video was posted in this item. Derryl has also got an ebay shop where much of his material is available, include some new guitar books and tab.

I always get a chill when I'm scanning through videos and I see Derryl Gabel... so no surprise that this video delivered the same type of thrill! The video highlights Derryl's amazing improvisation skills over a simple G minor blues.

Derryl Gabel has confirmed that he's been working on improvisational guitar concepts and this is likly to be rolled out into a new DVD very soon. More when I know.

I just got confirmation from Zeroesque about the current status of the upcoming CD.

We are currently finishing the mixes for the new record. It's called "Multipick Technique" and hopefully will be released within the next month or so. We already have a guest solo from Derryl Gabel, and we have a couple other surprises on this album. As usual, it will be available at guitar nine records website, our website, and itunes, msn music, etc. We hope to tour behind this release, so stay tuned. Thanks, Shawn Christie-Zeroesque

Derryl Gabel is working on a new DVD: Cool Legato Phrases 2. Derryl also has a guest spot on Scott Hughes 3rd album entitled "The In-Between Phases". He has a guest solo on the track "Fi-Lo". As mentioned earlier, Derryl also features on Harry Kapeliaris's second album which has yet to be released.

Good news again, after a short hiatus, Derryl has started playing guitar again. He is in the process of creating some guitar instructional DVDs. Hopefully he'll cover some of his soloing over complex changes using the super locrian concept, basically playing over changes that aren't there. I'll let you know more as I find out. I also got his "Giant Steps" CD, which features some older but just as exciting legato playing. I also forgot to mention the excellent lessons and powertab from the Essential Guitarist interview.

The first "Visions and Dreams" features Derryl playing over a number of the tracks from the CD of the same name, enabling you to finally see how he plays, amazing! Background:
Derryl Gabel was born in 1970 and took up playing guitar at the age of 15. His early inspiration, like many others around that time was the Shrapnel recording artists: Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore and Yngwie Malmsteen.

I first heard of Derryl back in 1992 when Derryl won a guitar competition to play on master guitarist George Lynch's solo release, "Sacred Groove".

Later his skills caught the attention of Mark Varney and the now defunct Legato records. He released a number of tracks on the "Guitar on the Edge" series.

Derryl has worked on his chops and now incorporates a more fusion orientated legato style, highlighting his influences: Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Brett Garsed and Greg Howe.

Derryl has released a number of CD's(includes mp3 snippets) and videos which are worth checking. Also watch this outstanding video clip from his Chop from Hell guitar column, let me know if your jaw doesn't hit the floor. If you want to, try out his power tab guitar lessons..
