Blabbermouth post an update from Marty Friedman:

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! to everyone who made 2007 such a special year for me. It was without a doubt one of the most exciting years of my career, if not the most adventurous.

"Aside from my other TV and print media duties, I celebrated a year with the show 'Rock Fujiyama', I managed to produce and play three albums, several single cuts, write my first top 20 single, do my first solo live DVD, as well as do my first solo trek through Europe. I was fortunate enough to meet so many of my fans and friends at promo events during the year and also of course at Masa Ito`s annual bash that I`m always honoured to do. Aside from that I was given my first shot at acting in a motion picture and it was a total blast!

"On a more personal note, I was asked to judge next year's annual state-wide University Japanese Speech Competition of Arizona, the same competition that I entered as a contestant just six years ago. Hard work really does pay off.

"But the MAIN thing is that I am currently putting together my new solo album, and I can tell you that I am halfway through it now and I am absolutely thrilled with it so far. There are many huge and cool surprises…

"I appreciate all of your support more than you will ever know. An amazing 2008 to all of you — I hope 2008 will be everything you want it to be!"

An interview with Marty Friedman and his move to Japan.
If the shift seemed natural to Friedman, it jarred with much of his fan-base, many of whom felt J-Pop too synthetic to test the abilities of a true musician. "In Japanese music, pretty much anything goes," he argues. "You can have the most extreme metal to the most tender ballads, and that can all come from the same artist. I love that about Japanese music.

Marty Friedman Japanses TV news:

"Marty will appear on Beat Takeshi's hit prime time TV show Daredemo Picasso on Friday night October 19 at 10PM on TV Tokyo. This episode celebrates the 35 year career of Ishikawa Sayuri, and will have Marty on the panel of guests and also even feature Marty performing his own arrangement of one of her songs with the legendary Japanese singer in person. Marty was influenced by her music considerably, so if you are a fan of either, the show is not to be missed.

In other TV news, due to overwhelming demand, Marty's three month NHK TV series Jukebox Eikaiwa is being rebroadcast in reruns from the beginning of October through January every Monday night at 11:40 on NHK."

Marty Friedman - Arpeggio lessons

www.caustictruths.com interview Marty Friedman:
“For the record, I hate instrumental music,” he says, “especially guitar based instrumental music. I have always liked the sound of heavy metal music in the studio at the point just before the vocals are recorded. That sound feels great. So-the goal is to have that sound as the base, but make the actual content fun enough, interesting enough, powerful enough and cool enough to not make you miss the vocalist. That is my constant standard while writing and playing. And it is tough!”

28-04-2007:
Marty Friedman has contributed a guitar solo to a new song by Jason Becker, marking their first collaboration in 17 years. The solo is for a song called 'Believe' and was recorded in Tokyo just prior to Marty's European tour this March. From his web site:

We at the site, Marty himself and, of course, music fans around the world are hoping this is only the first of many future collaborations. Stay tuned for Marty's thoughts on this in a very special interview we have coming up at this site later this spring! For release info and more details, visit www.jasonbecker.com/."

Blasting Zone pull off a Marty Friedma interview

Back in the mid to late ‘90’s, I really started to get into Japanese Rock and Pop music. Really heavily into it. And I thought if I’m going to play it, actually get into the scene for real, I’m going to have to be based in Japan, ya know? There’s only so much that you can do from L.A. or New York, so I decided to come to Tokyo about four years ago and it’s turned out to be the greatest decision of my career...

A new interview with Marty Friedman, the Loudspeaker Interview
Interviewer:
Since Feburary I have been running the myspace profile posing to be your official one? For awhile now I have been feeling rather guilty because I feel like I have been decieving over 4000 people, including Jason Becker, Jeff Loomis, Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, Nick Menza, and many other people.. I truly feel terrible.

Because of these people asking this I would like to know if I could have your permission to actually keep it running as the true official Myspace for you. With you being able to check it and use it, of course... I would completely re-design it according to how you would like me to and everything. I just thought I could bring that as an offer to you, that's your choice man. If you don't want me to I completely understand.

I'd like to also sincerly apologize for what I have done. I do feel guilty because of it.. Sincerly, Benjamin speedingrockerxxx@gmail.com]

I finally got around to adding Marty Friedman...during a paticularly sterile world cup match between Mexico and Angola! Marty's Speed Metal Symphony was the first CD I bought! After deciding to exchange vinyl (500 + albums) for the laser played silver disk!

Ok enough of nostalgia. Marty`s new album, "Loudspeaker" is completed and will be released on the Japanese AVEX label on 28 June 2006. The Worldwide release will follow in the third quarter. This is set to be his most aggressive album yet and
It will also feature Steve Vai, John Petrucci and Billy Sheehan.
