Bryan Baker Solo - Steps Ahead

Background:
Bryan Baker was born in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. His Father was a guitarist and his Mother an artist / dancer. Bryan began formal training on the guitar at the age of four. After nine years of personally directed study, Bryan attended the Los Angeles Music Academy’s annual summer camp held in Pasadena, California. Upon completion of the week-long summer camp, Bryan was awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend the music program, based on his exemplary performance.

Bryan graduated from the Los Angeles Music Academy at the age of fourteen, and spent the next two years performing in various jazz and rock settings in southern California. Bryan auditioned for, and was awarded a full tuition scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts at the age of sixteen. During his study at Berklee, Bryan was awarded the Billboard Magazine Endowned Scholarship; an award given to one outstanding student every year.

In addition, Bryan was a performing member of the college’s traveling Blue Note Group, which performed at the Blue Note in New York City. The Bryan Baker Quartet, featuring Nick Falk on drums, Aaron Henry on saxophone, and Bryan Ladd on bass, since its inception, has noteably performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Next Generation Jazz Festival, and Boston‘s Symphony Hall while continuing to push and challenge the limits of improvised music.

Bryan has performed with Jeff "Tain" Watts, Victor Bailey, Marcus Strickland, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Hal Crook, Bob Gullotti, David Zinno, Bob Mintzer, Russell Ferrante, Marcus Baylor, Jimmy Haslip, Jene Baylor, David Tronzo, Francisco Mela, Roswell Rudd, and many others.
