Rick Beato: Is Competition in Music Good?

Rick Beato has been a good friend of mine for a number of years and he has never ceased to inspire me. It's not his music theory knowledge, nor the many disciplines that he has mastered that moves me. What I find so impressive is his ability to accomplish his goals. It's not only impressive, but INSPIRATIONAL. In our many conversations we have breached the topic of "Is competition in music good?" It's a concept that so many people are afraid to admit they partake in, as though to somehow not acknowledge that they are not only feeling competitive, but also acting on it.

This video gives food for thought when considering how to survive as a musician. Have you ever thought about what it is going to take to make a living as a musician? It is thought that "it's easier" you played any of of the following -bass, guitar, keyboard, drums, etc - but just because you play the bass doesn't mean survival in this industry is a "shoe-in."

Having an interview with Rick Beato was an attempt to put the proverbial YouTube fingers on what exactly is going on and point out the role that competition plays in music.
