Gord Olson: Schecter Jeff Loomis Cygnus demo

Here I'm playing the new Jeff Loomis signature model from Schecter Guitar Research, the CYGNUS JLX-1 FR!
Absolutely amazing guitar, it's gorgeous, the fit & finish is perfect. And it sounds and plays soooo nice! Definitely my new favorite of all my guitars, and will likely be my main guitar for both recording and live use from now on!
The new Seymour Duncan Loomis Blackouts are stunning as well. I've always been a passive pickup guy primarily, but I'm super impressed with these pickups! They're VERY high output (so be prepared to turn the amp gain down a couple notches), but still are very clear and articulate sounding. And as you can hear, they clean up very nicely as well!

Gear used:
Schecter Cygnus JLX-1 FR into a Kemper Profiling Amp. The Kemper profile is one I made of my old Peavey RockMaster preamp going into an EL34 power amp, then into a Marshall 1960A cabinet loaded with Eminence CV-75 speakers, and mic'd with a Shure SM57.

Thanks for watching! As always, please like, subscribe, leave any questions or comments, and share the video around if you enjoyed it!

Cheers!

Gord Olson: Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed

So normally, I'm all about the metal, but this Dirty Deed distortion pedal has actually lured me into the rock pool for just a little while. Very cool pedal though. It really sounds and feels like an amp with the power section being heavily pushed. You can really hear and feel a distinct "sag" in the tone. I haven't encountered that in a pedal before. Great for all kinds of rock tones, but could also be used very nicely for stoner/doom metal as well. The guitar is a Schecter KM-6, with Duncan Black Winter pickups. Awesome guitar! The amp I'm using is a Peavey 6505 on the Green channel, into the "Normal Gain" input, so it's a fairly clean signal, as you can hear. The cabinet is a Marshall 1960 4x12, loaded with Eminence CV-75 speakers. Those are my favorite speakers without a doubt. They are similar to V30's, but much better all around, IMHO.

Any questions or comments, please leave them below, and I'll try to answer as often as I can

Cheers!

Gord Olson: Schecter KM-7 - The Anthropocene Epoch

Here's a song from a solo album I'm working on, it's called "The Anthropocene Epoch". I recorded all the guitar parts with the Schecter KM-7 guitar. Pickups are Seymour Duncan Nazgûl in the bridge, and a Sentient in the neck position. They can be heard at the following times...

Bridge Pickup (Nazgûl) - 0:16 to 2:02
Neck Pickup (Sentient) - 2:02 to 2:27
Bridge Pickup (Nazgûl) - 2:27 to 2:38
Neck Pickup (Sentient) - 2:38 to 2:50
Bridge Pickup (Nazgûl) - 2:50 to 3:38
Clean tone is middle position (both pickups), coil tapped - 3:38 to 3:58
Bridge Pickup (Nazgûl) - 3:58 to 4:22
Neck Pickup (Sentient) - 4:22 to 4:46

Elsewhere in my signal chain, a Seymour Duncan 805 OD pedal (killer!!!), in front of the Kemper Profiling Amplifier. As usual, the profile used for all tones is of my Peavey 6505 head into a Marshall 1960A 4x12 with an SM57 on a V30 speaker.
Bass was also tracked through the Kemper.

Gord Olson: Jewel - Marty Friedman & Jason Becker - a birthday treat for Jason Becker!

Gord Olson: I've wanted for a long time to learn and record this incredible song, and I've finally gotten around to it. Jason and Marty were amazing together! To the purists out there, it's not perfect, I know, I know. I had a lot of fun learning and recording it though, so I hope you enjoy it!
All the guitars and bass were recorded through the Kemper Profiling Amplifier. Pickups are Seymour Duncan EMTY Blackouts.

Please subscribe, and feel free to leave comments. Cheers!

EMG 81 & 85 head to head with Seymour Duncan EMTY Blackouts.

Gord Olson: #MayonesDuncan Contest - unofficial entry

I'm not even sure if I'm eligible to enter this contest, but I like the track, and wanted to have some fun with it. So here's my "unofficial" entry! Nothing too crazy here, just wanted to write a cool solo to suit the backing track!
Cheers!
