Phoenix Johnson on vocals on all streaming platforms! I wrote this song between 2022-2024, it's a little different from my previous music in that guitar isn't really the main focus, and it's not very technically complex. I wanted to focus more on the songwriting and production aspects, and make sure there was enough room for the vocalist to do this thing! For this track I collaborated with Phoenix Johnson on vocals, my husband Anup Sastry on drums and Christopher Lee for artwork. They all knocked it out of the park in their respective crafts and I feel very lucky to work with such amazingly talented people. I learned a lot producing and mixing this song, and i hope to continue improving in these aspects. I hope you like it! :)

Muchas gracias a todos los que han escuchado mi nuevo sencillo! ❤️ Esta es la versión instrumental de la canción, pueden escuchar la versión con voces en las plataformas digitales. Compuse esta canción entre los años 2022-2024, es bastante diferente a mis temas anteriores. Para este tema quería concentrarme más que nada en el aspecto de composición y producción, y no tanto en componer partes complicadas o técnicas para la guitarra. También quería que tuviera voces, entonces quise dejar espacio para que el cantante pudiera cantar. Para esta canción colaboré con Phoenix Johnson en voces, mi esposo Anup Sastry en batería, y Christopher Lee en el diseño de la tapa. Aprendí mucho produciendo y mezclando esta canción, fue un experimento interesante en fusionar metal con ritmos de candombe uruguayo🇺🇾. Espero que les guste! :)

Some of you may have heard this riff before on previous videos, this is an idea that i wrote back in 2018 and i just now got around to finally finish producing/mixing it for a release. For some reason, i got stuck on this song a lot and found it hard to finish, i considered not releasing at all it since i feel like my writing style hast changed a lot since, but i wanted to honor the process and the people i collaborated with, so i'm happy it's finally out and i hope you'll like it :)
In this playthrough, I tracked the live guitar straight through my Axe FX, and mixed in the live guitar track over top of the original song mix. The Orange cab isn't mic'ed because i'm just using it for room sound so i could sync up camera audio, i'm using IEMs by @Ultimate Ears Pro for monitoring.

Maru Martinez: Riffs with JST ToneForge Misha
Wrote some riffs with the the Joey Sturgis ToneForge Misha Mansoor plug in! I can't remember the last time i wrote disto riffs, mainly because i dread mixing distorted guitars lol - so i write a lot of clean guitar stuff instead...
But i had a lot of fun writing and mixing this, and i found it super easy to dial in distortion tones with this plug in, so there will be more to come! :)

Anup Sastry, Maru Martinez: Doom Eternal - The Only Thing They Fear Is You
Watch in 4K!!! This is a cover of 'The Only Thing They Fear Is You', by Mick Gordon. It's off of the new Doom Eternal soundtrack.
The new Doom Eternal soundtrack is absolutely amazing. This is something my wife ( @Maru Martinez ) and I have wanted to do for a while now, and we finally had the time to put everything together. It's also our first cover video together, and I hope we can absolutely do more of this in the future. We both are always very busy chasing our own musical endeavors. So it was nice being able to make this video together.
As you can hear, the sound is a bit more 'produced' compared to my average drum video I normally upload. I wanted to mix the audio as if it were for a release. So I did edit some of the playing, and I also blended drum samples. The guitars have also been quad tracked to get a bit more weight. Either way, I hope you enjoy the production. My wife did an amazing job recording the guitars and filming/editing all of the video.
You can find more of Maru's videos on her Youtube channel and her Instagram page (info below). She has music released, and she's currently working on more. She's using a Guerilla Guitar 8 string in this video. This is the same 8 string I've used for a bunch of my own material. Her tone is a combination of tones from an Axe FX II.
