Shawn Lane: sixth anniversary nearing.

A reminder to all Shawn Lane fans, we're fast approaching the sixth anniversary of the late great Shawn Lanes's passing. I would like to thank Diane Lane for writing to me and I wish her and the Lane family all the best over this difficult time.

Message from Diane Lane
Dear Laurie,

Thank you so much for your beautiful letter. I will cherish it.

Hopefully the Merchandise page will be reopened in time to order for the holiday season. Shawn has the best fans in the world.

September 26 is rapidly approaching, and will mark the 6th anniversary of the day Shawn walked on to another dimension. Please think of him and perhaps play some of his music on that day. I am asking his fans all over the world to have a quiet thought of Shawn at 5:30 Memphis time (Central Standard Time). We, his family and friends, will be at the Memorial Park cemetery that day celebrating his life. He is missed and loved so dearly. His music lives on.

Peace and love,

Diane

Chantel McGregor: queen blues

Realising at an early age that if you picked up a guitar you got attention, especially from her dad whose guitar it usually was, it was inevitable that she would get one of her own. So at the ripe old age of three, she got her first guitar, a half size acoustic.

At seven she started lessons but soon noticed that not only did the electric guitars have a smaller neck, making them ideal for little hands, but they could also make a lot more noise. After more lessons and a lot more noise, and at the grand old age of eight she became the youngest person in the country to pass a Rockschool grade. More lessons followed and with them came the realisation that if you want people to listen, you need to sing!

So it came to pass that at the age of twelve she arrived at the famous Melborn Hotel in Bradford to play and sing at the weekly jam session. Helped and encouraged by all the musicians, she developed rapidly into a incredible rock and blues musician.

Now described as a "prodigy", a visit from a major label soon followed and at fourteen she was told "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!" by the head of their A&R. Their advise to change styles because boys would be intimidated was met with an attitude of "that's their problem! I'm not changing!" Singing and playing on national television and radio soon followed.

A meeting with two renowned producers soon lead to a change in direction from live performance to recording and writing. This coupled with exams and advice meant an end to live performing for around four years. As seems common in the music industry, once lawyers get involved, things can get messy!!!!!

Now qualified at grade eight and the holder of the prize for outstanding musicianship at the world renowned Leeds College of Music for 2006/2007, a chance meeting with a well known local band saw Chantel back at what she does best! - singing and playing with feel to die for - Which lead to the formation of the rock blues trio, the Chantel McGregor Band.

Whilst playing extensively around the North of England, she continued her studies at Leeds College Of Music achieving a BA, first class honours degree in popular music in July 2009.

Guthrie Govan: uk clinic dates to be announced!

Ed Yoon:
After the great success of the clinic tour of the US/Canada northeast we did with Guthrie in July, we surveyed our top dealers in Europe and they also advised us that they'd love to have us do the same there. So, it seems Guthrie and I will embark on a mini-tour of Europe in December with clinic-shows in UK, France, Germany, perhaps the Netherlands, perhaps Sweden, and Norway.

I'm working on the dates now and should have the schedule finalized over the next several weeks. The tour will be at least 2 weeks long with around 10 clinics. Some of the dates should feature a local backing band to perform Guthrie's tunes and jams on jazz-fusion standards. The dealers in Europe are already very excited and we expect another very successful and memorable tour.

The GG Signature Model, introduced in January, has been an amazing success with nearly 70 of these guitars sold or on order to date and we expect many more to be ordered for this tour and beyond. Besides his Sig model, Guthrie will demo various other models like the Standard, Classic, and the Classic T and also the new line of pedals. Guthrie is quite the product demonstrator as well - very entertaining and informative at the same time.

Seeing Guthrie live is a completely different and much more rewarding experience than watching him on YouTube or listening to his CD [like we didn't know that already... get to see Guthrie Live is great... but if he's not in your area soon, youtube it'll have to be.]. So you guys in Europe who are nearby the locations that we'll visit shouldn't miss this chance to see Guthrie live. Even his solo demos of all the different Suhr products during the clinic portion are truly something to behold. We will also try to arrange master classes at each stop if possible.

Will keep you guys posted on the dates as they get confirmed with our dealers. Hope to see some of you guys there. Having never been to Europe, I'm really excited about the prospects for this tour.
