New live album of the benefit festival for Jason Becker. Pledge for the live disc! Proceeds will go to Jason Becker!
On November 13, 2011, a 6-hour guitar festival was held to honor Jason Becker, the incredible guitarist known for his extraordinary work with Cacophony, David Lee Roth and Marty Friedman, among others. Out of deep respect for Jason and love of his work, each guitarist featured at this tribute show waived their usual performance fees, playing that day simply to honor one of their contemporaries and source of great influence: Jason Becker, a modern day guitar great. All notes played that night were dedicated to the great Jason Becker in support of his struggle against the disease ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Contributing artists who played for Jason include: Guthrie Govan, Stuart Hamm (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Frank Gambale) , Michael Lee Firkins, Mattias Eklundh (Freak Kitchen), Marco Sfogli (James LaBrie Band), Kiko Loureiro (Angra), Daniele Gottardo, Stéphan Forté (Adagio), Andy James, Atma Anur and more…
The live show was recorded on 24 tracks and now the tunes still need to be edited, mixed and mastered in the studio + design of the album needs to be made.
We need your help to finish the production on this live album. With your pledge, you will be helping to ensure that this amazing recording of a legendary concert gets released as well as defraying the cost of Jason’s growing medical expenses (www.jasonbecker.com).

Dave Reffett will perform a guest guitar solo on the new MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO album.
Says Reffett: "I am thrilled to announce that I will be playing a solo on the new Michael Angelo Batio CD. Michael is one of my all time favorite musicians. It is a real honor to be involved in his new record. I will give it everything I've got to be worthy. more
Mike Portnoy and Billy Sheehan have tapped Richie Kotzen to be the guitarist/vocalist of their new project following the recent departure of John Sykes.
Although Portnoy and Sykes demoed a dozen or so songs at a Los Angeles studio last year, their vastly different work ethics and conflicting schedules were solely to blame for the dissolution of their collaboration. Portnoy explained on Twitter, "Sad but true... I tried my best to make it work... Me and [Billy Sheehan] couldn't wait around any longer... [Billy] and I are moving on and have already begun work with another guitarist/vocalist, keeping the original 'power trio' concept." more

You ask about it - I play it! It's the series where the material is chosen by you. In this episode, I explain the picking economy of motion that I've been asked about many times, but as recently as this week due to the video mentioned in the annotations. Yes, that's my cat Lily meowing to be let into the music room. She's a big fan of electric guitar! I tried to drown her out with the background music but she's got a set of pipes that one!
Want a Chris Brooks T-shirt? Check them out athttp://chrisbrooks.com/web_store where you can also grab my albums.
This week's G.L.O.D. content was requested by Greg, who wanted a break-down of the legato arpeggio + Garsed style arpeggio in "Velvet Claws". It's a lick in the style of Richie Kotzen and Paul Gilbert who've both used this shape in the past so I encourage you to steal it and do your own thing with it too! I followed it with a lick I also broke down in GLOD#1.
Got a request for a future Guitar Licks on Demand video? Shoot me a message, and email via http://chrisbrooks.com, or comment on this video.

At the Steve Morse show in San Francisco with Jason Becker, and ran into Eric Johnson. These are three of my favorite guitarists of all time. What a night!
Random solo time? I came up with this about 20 minutes ago, and I think it's pretty neat. I know I need to upload more videos! but i'm writing a full length at the moment :D so i've been pretty busy!
Anyways, it's late, and I like to sweep. Not sure if I'll put this in a song, but it's super fun to play :)

Joe Bonamassa and Seymour Duncan jammed on two blues tunes Saturday afternoon at the 2012 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California. The jam took place at the Seymour Duncan booth moments after Duncan and Bonamassa introduced Joe's new limited-edition Seymour Duncan humbuckers.

I just got back from the Namm show in California and thought I would share this video. I got all of his songs except his last one he played "war march". I got to talk and jam with him for a while which was awesome. Probably one of the most down to earth guitarists I have met. Hope you enjoy!
Sorry I have not put anything up for a long time now, I have been extremely busy with school and other things. I plan on getting a lot of covers and originals up this year. I will try to get something up this week.
