Lee wrathe: Music Theory for guitar players series

Music Theory for Guitar players part 1 -The Chromatic Scale
Part 1 of a series of videos that represent the fundamentals of Western Harmony and how that applies to the guitar.
Condensing Music Theory into 3-4 key concepts that will help you work out your favourite songs and write your own music.

The series covers
• The Chromatic scale (and equal temperament)
• The major scale ...what it is, how it's made, how to play it and how chords are built from it (Harmonisation) and chord progressions.
• Extending the basic chords to 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th and altered.
• And finally a clear explanation of the Modes of the Major scale and how and why they work.
I can usually teach these fundamentals in an hours lesson (face to face, at a clinic or via Skype).
But I think this base level of harmonic understanding should be free for everyone who is interested in learning but doesn't know where to start in the face of so much info on the net!
Once the series is complete I will begin the process of the next tier of guitar based theory tuition videos that will cover Harmonic and Melodic minor, chord substitution (and a lot of other Jazz and Classical related harmony) for the guitarist.

I hope they are of use to you and if you need a written version you can request a free copy of my tuition book "Ninja Guitar" part 1 by hitting me up with a subscription here and mailing me a request.
Best wishes

News: Hutchinson’s Molten Lava guitar

Hutchinson Guitar Concepts unveil the Molten Diabolic! The second release in a series of high-concept electric guitars inspired by popular culture.

Artisan instrument builder James Hutchinson releases the second in a series of high-concept electric guitars inspired by popular culture and reimagining iconic themes from Films, TV and video games.
Celebrating the release of ‘Diablo III’ earlier this year, the Molten Diabolic draws its namesake from Blizzard Entertainment’s enduring video game franchise, taking Hutchinson's original Molten Lava concept and infusing it with a shard of the Black Soulstone, an artifact of incredible power. Both the mystical stone and the hand carved lava flow have been illuminated by an incredible LED array recessed into the guitar top.

DiMarzio Evolution and Fred humbuckers provide scorching hot leads and menacing rhythm tones, a low profile fixed bridge with stainless steel saddles assures harmonic clarity and ample sustain, while Gotoh machine heads maintain rock solid tuning stability when drop tuning on the fly. The highly detailed paintwork compliments distressed steel plates, annealed to give an intensely weathered aesthetic. The lava is finely textured to better showcase the lighting system, whilst offering a robust and roadworthy finish.

Orders for the Molten Diabolic can be placed through the Hutchinson Guitar Concepts website, which also features a portfolio of finished instruments that exert design inspiration from themes as diverse as Steampunk, Natural Disasters, and Chinese dynasties.

Hutchinson's Cybertech, Molten Lava, and Bronze Top guitars are just a few examples of what can be achieved through intricate wood carving, masterful finishing and state of the art electronics. Hundreds of hours of work go into every fine detail, ensuring that each Tibetan symbol is perfectly engraved, and each ripple of molten lava oozes and glows with incredible LED lighting effects.

Every guitar featured in Hutchinson’s portfolio is available as a theme to order for your own guitar and several of these portfolio items are commissions from world touring, platinum selling artists. Look out for Hutchinson Guitar Concepts on the road, as our instruments make their way to the largest festival stages and hottest tours in 2012.Hutchinson Guitar Concepts accept requests for new custom concepts and designs, offering extensive modifications to existing guitars, or complete concept instruments built to the highest standard. If you’ve ever wanted a guitar built to embody your favourite place, time, movie, game, fashion, genre or style, look no further than Hutchinson Guitar Concepts! Ritchie Blackmore: Rainbow - Kill The King 1977

Rainbow was formed by Ritchie Blackmore in 1975 after he left Deep Purple at the height of their fame. They were instantly successful and released a string of hit albums, with an ever changing line-up, between 1975 and 1983 when Blackmore broke up the group to join the reformed Deep Purple.

This concert from their European tour in 1977 features the line-up responsible for the "Long Live Rock'n'Roll" album released later that year, including vocalist Ronnie James Dio and drummer Cozy Powell.

Blackmore had to be smuggled out of Austria after a trouble with the police at a gig two nights earlier and was very late arriving in Munich, all of which seemed to inspire both the band and the audience to create a truly remarkable gig.
