David T Chastain,Leather Leone: The circle is complete, back in the studio recording!

Leather Leone (vocals) and David T. Chastain (guitar) have been demoing new music since January in an attempt "to see if we have any magic left," the singer tells BLABBERMOUTH.NET. She adds: "And it appears we are conjuring up the spirit one more time. We are currently in the studio to start tracking." They are joined in CHASTAIN's current lineup by original bassist Mike Skimmerhorn and the group's latest addition, drummer Stian Kristoffersen (PAGAN'S MIND, FIREWIND).

Says David: "We are trying to write and record music that is expected of us, but with some modern twists and turns. "We demoed up 20 tracks and it was difficult to leave any of the them off the CD.

Geddy Lee: Rush apologies for the "shocking" end to their show! Chain Lightning?

Geddy Lee of Canadian rock legends RUSH has released the following statement:

"My bandmates and I are extremely disappointed and apologetic over the sudden and unexpected ending of our show last night at the Festival D'Été De Québec. The lightning storm that was approaching made it extremely dangerous for all the technicians working the sound and lights and there was a high risk to the audience members as well as the musicians on stage. We were enjoying the show tremendously at the time and we were hoping we could get the whole show finished before the storm returned but unfortunately we were unlucky and were forced to end the show for the safety of all concerned. Thanks to all of our amazing fans for braving the weather and once again our sincere apologies for what had transpired. Hope to see you all again soon!!!" http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=192380

Lead vocalist and bassist for Rush, Geddy Lee, has made the following statement: “After seeing the devastation from the recent floods, we felt compelled to do what we could. While we had hoped to avoid cancelling the Calgary show, venue safety concerns have closed the venue. Our apologies to all of the fans that bought tickets to the Calgary show for any inconvenience. We’re hoping they – along with the great people of Red Deer – can come to the Enmax Centrium for what has now become a benefit concert. We’d like to thank everyone helping to put on this show for joining us in donating their time & services so we can raise as much money as possible to help those in need.”

Aldo Giuntini,Tony Martin: Giuntini lV album released by Escape Records - Epic Rock!

Giuntini Project IV was released in May via Escape Music. It has been six years but Aldo is now back with the fourth chapter of his Project. “My way of writing and producing the songs needs a lot of time”, he says, “One could say I am a perfectionist, but when I have musical ideas for my guitar, I often have the other guys working with their own inputs: Also I need to have Tony Martin to work on the lyrics at the end, so this takes away a lot of time”. http://www.bravewords.com/news/206858

John Scofield,Avi Bortnick: Uberjam Deux

John Scofield: Uberjam Deux

John Scofield: Uberjam Deux http://www.abstractlogix.com/xcart/product.php?productid=25841

John Scofield (guitar); Avi Bortnick (guitar, sampler); John Medeski (organ, Wurlitzer organ, Mellotron); Louis Cato, Adam Deitch (drums).

John Scofield is an artist who is almost impossible to pigeonhole. Such is his mastery of the guitar that he is comfortable in any setting whether it be jazz, blues, rock or just about any other genre; including some genres, as he demonstrates on his latest EmArcy release, Uberjam Deux, which have yet to be defined.

Uberjam Deux, has been a decade in the gestation, following in direct line of descent from 2002s Grammy nominated Uberjam; not that Scofield has been inactive in the interim, far from it. There have been seven John Scofield albums in the intervening years, as well as five others on which he is a co-leader on the project. His last Emarcy release was A Moments Peace (2011), a luxurious album of ballads ¬ the polar opposite of Uberjam Deux. Its rare for an artist to be able to play more than one style of music with true fluency, virtuosity and sincerity John Scofield is one such artist.

Those who loved the original Uberjam will not be disappointed by Uberjam Deux and yet Scofields new album is arguably even more of its time than his earlier record. According to Sco, We used all kinds of different grooves for this record, but they are all basically dance grooves. Some might say they are from the African diaspora; theres Rhythm and Blues, Afro-beat, reggae and house, but whatever they are they are all funky. We used all these amazing world-grooves to blow over. Certain songs have been evolving over the ten years since Uberjam; Avi Bortnick had been working on some of these groove ideas and we took them and developed them into what you hear on our new record.

Track 1 Camelus
Track 2 Boogie Stupid
Track 3 Endless Summer

Guthrie Govan: sonicstate.com interview

RB: Hi Guthrie, thanks for chatting to me, what are you up to at the moment and how's life treating you?
GG: "Right now I'm at Heathrow Airport bound for somewhere in Germany, where I'll be playing a couple of festival gigs with Steven Wilson. Over the last few months, I've been doing a lot of touring with Steven (we did a big tour in Europe, followed by another one covering the US and South America) plus an exhausting but thoroughly worthwhile clinic tour in Brazil. It's good to be busy, I guess."
The new Aristocrats album sounds bolder, and dare I say more experimental than the last (not to say that the first one didn't have its fair share of musical experimentation), was this a conscious decision or did it come about as a result of gelling as a band?
"The latter, I would say. The more we've played together as a trio, the more we've come to realise that what makes the lineup distinctive is simply the way we interact with each other, rather than any particular blend of musical genres.
"This is a very liberating state of affairs: it basically means that we can feel free to be as weird as we like during the writing process, safe in the knowledge that the end product will still sound suitably Aristocratic... and yes, this mindset is definitely more evident on the new album than it was on our debut recording!"
