John Petrucci reveals the option for another new CD in this interview with guitar messenger.com John says:
"I think first and foremost for me its time for another solo album, so I’m going to start working on that material. It will be a little tough to find the time to do that while Dream Theater is on tour, but it will certainly be my first order of business once we are done."

05-10-2007:
LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT featuring Mike Portnoy (drums), John Petrucci (guitar) and Jordan Rudess (guitar) and Tony Levin (bass) headline the first night of the NEARfest X, set to take place June 21-22, 2008 at Zoellner Arts Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Magna Carta has set an October 23 U.S. release date for the new album from LIQUID TRIO EXPERIMENT. Entitled "Spontaneous Combustion" features previously unreleased "jams" recorded during the sessions for LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT's second full-length album, "Liquid Tension Experiment 2", in October 1998 at Millbrook Studios in upstate New York.

"In October 1998, LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT reunited at Millbrook Studios in upstate New York to record their 2nd album. A few days into the sessions, John Petrucci's pregnant wife went into premature labor, leaving Mike Portnoy, Jordan Rudess and Tony Levin stranded in an already set-up and booked recording studio. So like any creative and productive musicians would do, they decided to stay and JAM... and JAM they did!

"For some bizarre and still unexplained reason, the master tapes of these jams were misplaced during the mixing process. But, luckily, Portnoy records almost everything he ever does and as a result his live two-track stereo DAT mixes are the only remaining traces of this historic jam. So what you have here is as live and raw as it gets. No overdubs, no editing, no mixing. Just three guys, their instruments and their spontaneous imaginations feeding off of each other."

The 2007 incarnation of Joe Satriani's popular G3 tour will kick off on March 14 in Phoenix starring Satriani, John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert. The tour will play selected dates in North America throughout March and April. The starting tour itinerary follows with more dates to be announced shortly.

A recent poll of the Top 100 Greatest Rock Guitarists ranked Satriani at #7, Petrucci at #11 and Gilbert at #14.

Satriani stated simply
"I can't wait to hit the stage with John and Paul, they are two of the scariest, most amazing players I've ever heard!"

Continuing with the same successful formula as in years past, fans will be treated to individual sets by each guitarist with their own bands before joining Satriani and his band on stage for an all-star jam session. As with previous G3 tours, special guest guitarists will be invited to join the jam at select dates around the country. Past guests have included Neal Schon, Gary Hoey, George Lynch, Billy Gibbons, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Fripp and Brian May.
