Lord Dave Of B returns from his worldly jaunts with a down to earth interview with the monster haired and alternate super picker Michael Angelo Batio!

When asked about the chance of getting a copy of his old Starlicks instructional video, Miachael says:
No, the reason it's hard to find is because they owe me over $1,000,000! And it'd be too hard to sue - I don't like the negativity of a lawsuit - we've looked into it but I just stopped them from selling it because I wasn't getting royalties, so they're not allowed to release it. That's when I started working with Metal Method instead and did Speed Kills.

Michael Angelo Batio release a new CD "2 X Again" available from guitar9.

2 X Again features songs from Michael Angelo Batio's classic "No Boundaries" and "Planet Gemini" CDs remixed and remastered, and with the drums performed by young drum virtuoso Joe Babiak. Also included are various interludes and demos recorded during the "No Boundaries" sessions that are a "must have" for Batio fans. The mix and production of 2 X Again are amazing. Chris Djuricic ("Hands Without Shadows" CD) tracked the drums and mixed the entire CD. James Murphy (ex Testament, Death guitarist) mastered the CD. The cover photo was taken by Stephen Jensen and the CD artwork and graphics were designed by Paul Kuhr.

Speed Kills 3

The blurb...

Introduction to Michael Angelo Batio's Speed Kills 3 advanced guitar techniques instructional DVD. Available at metalmethod.com / angelo.com

Until today I have always recommended Speed Kills as the ultimate advanced guitar technique program. Speed Kills has been the shredder's bible since the early 90's. It's still one of the best, but it has been surpassed today by the release of Speed Kills 3. This DVD will either inspire and motivate you beyond your current level of playing ability or convince you to find a new hobby. It's that challenging.

Still, you don't have to play these exercises at 200 beats per minute to get results. Start slow and gradually increase speed until you're capable of keeping up with Michael. At least you can aspire to keep up with Michael. That's difficult.

Speed Kills 2 - by Michael Angelo Batio

This is Michael Angelo Batio's guitar lesson for 2006. It's the follow-up to Speed Kills and in many ways superior. Number one, it's more approachable. Yes, there are plenty of spectacular exercises and licks in this lesson but it's still easy enough for even an intermediate guitarist to enjoy.

Michael Angelo Batio has finished mixing his new solo CD “Hands Without Shadows”. The CD will be available on October 27th. The CD features guest appearances by Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge and Creed, Rudy Sarzo of Ozzy, Whitesnake and Quiet Riot, Doug Marks and Bill Peck.

Background:
Michael Angelo Batio, probably needs no introductions to fans of fast guitar. He was born in Chicago. Michael started playing piano and composing at age 5 and started playing guitar at age 10 and by the age of 14 was playing Jazz guitar, winning an award for outstanding Jazz soloist on guitar at the age of 16.

He then studied music at Northeastern Illinois University. Finally graduating with a BA in Music Theory and Composition.

Michael invented a twin-necked, left and right-handed Double-Guitar, which he plays with right or left-hands. He also plays both guitars together in harmonies or two separate parts together at the same time.

Check out the video of Michael demonstrating his double neck technique on putfile.

Micheal also formed an OTT band called Nitro where he introduced the four neck guitar

June 1995, Michael's released his first solo CD "No Boundaries" was released worldwide on M.A.C.E. Music, Inc. Records, Michaels own record label. “No Boundaries” highlights Michaels often unparalelled clean speed picking technique.

Guitar One Magazine voted Michael the no. 1 Shredder of ALL TIME in their April 2003 issue. Other notable guitarists that made the top 10 were John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, (the late, great) Shawn Lane and Yngwie Malmsteen.

Check out his web site for a very complete bio and he also provides some video and mp3
