Torben Enevoldsen: Pinnacle Point - Winds Of Change - super AOR metal licks

For fans of Kansas, Deep Purple, Journey and Seventh Key. For fans of Kansas, Deep Purple, Journey and Seventh Key. Fusing classic hard rock with the complexity of British prog rock, Pinnacle Point revolves around the songwriting abilities of Jerome Mazza (Ex-Angelica) and Torben Enevoldsen (Fate, Acacia Avenue, Section A) The two met on Facebook around Christmas time of 2015, and soon after decided to write some songs together. The songs turned out extremely well and the idea of doing a full album together quickly emerged. During the spring and summer of 2016, Torben and Jerome wrote songs individually, as well as swapping ideas back and forth. The recordings were done simultaneously and by the end of the year, all songs had been recorded, mixed and mastered. Jerome Mazza did all of the vocals, but also played keyboards on a few songs. Torben played guitar, bass and keyboards, but to make the songs truly come to life, Torben and Jerome asked some of their friends to help out with the recordings. The album features guest performances by Howard Helm on keyboards, Cara - C on violin and Dan Orlando on piano. To help keep a steady groove, Torben asked his good old friend Dennis Hansen (Acacia Avenue, Section A) to play the drums. The album was produced by Jerome and Torben and mixed and mastered by Enevoldsen at his Funny Farm Studios in Denmark. Pinnacle Point is feel-good music; catchy, direct and mesmerizing. Jerome’s strong and impressive voice delivers songs with memorable hooks and an adept flow, able to go from soft to hard, and from soulful to edgy to sincere. While world-class guitarist Torben’s dexterity allows him to fluidly shift between his honed technique and improvised, infectious riffs and brilliant melodies. With an album ready for release in 2017, expect to hear more from this majestic
new band, Pinnacle Point.

Torben Enevoldsen: Lion Music virtuoso interview

Danish guitarist Torben Enevoldsen might be best known as the guitarist in Section A, but there is another side to him with 3 instrumental albums under his belt, each one a fine example of a very disciplined guitar player who only shreds when shredding is required. He has some great rhythm work and writes his music as some of the more accessible instrumental music you will hear.

Section A return after an absence of 4 years with their third album “Sacrifice”. Led by the rich vocals of Andy Engberg and the virtuoso guitar work of Torben Enevoldsen (Acacia Avenue, Fatal Force) the band is completed by new drummer Thomas Heintzelmann (Decoy) for the pounding 10 tracks of the new album.

“Sacrifice” marks a heavier and more direct approach from Section A with a more streamlined song orientated approach than its two predecessors “The Seventh Sign” (2003) and “Parallel Lives” (2006). The progressive elements of its predecessors are used more sparingly this time round and lyrically there is no concept to follow yet the album does tread the a similar ground in lyric subject matter.

On the music’s direction Torben Enevoldsen comments, “Musically, this album is a bit heavier and straighter forward than our previous efforts. The songs are perhaps also a bit faster and more energetic. It’s however basically still a blend of very melodic hard rock and metal, with a slight touch of Prog. The initial writing actually began right after the release of “Parallel Lives”, back in 2006. The writing and recording sessions then went on and off during 2007 and 2008, until the album was finally completed in September of 2009. I did most of the recordings here in my own studio in Copenhagen, but Andy’s vocals were recorded at Stonetower Studios in Stockholm”.

On the bands new drummer Torben proudly states, “I think that our new drummer, Thomas Heintzelmann, has opened new doors to the band technically. His double bass drumming is very fast and tight, and that enabled us to utilize this in our new songs. As a result, a song like “Land Of The Desert Sun” became just the way I wanted it. Very tight, fast and heavy”.

Continuing the bands tradition of having a first rate keyboardist come in an play solos “Sacrifice” is no exception with Lasse Finbråten of Circus Maximus adding his distinctive style and creating a nice collection of solo trade offs with Enevoldsen.

“Sacrifice” sees Section A back in full metal mode for their new album and is sure to appeal to long-term fans of the band as well as win over a new audience.

Torben Enevoldsen: ytsejam interview

Tommy Hash: First off, how did this record come about - when did the idea to make the Acacia Avenue happen?

Torben Enevoldsen: "I guess the idea came to me after I had written a few songs in this somewhat softer style. I liked the direction and the idea of doing something a little bit different for a change. Growing up I was listening to bands like Boston, Toto, Journey and Van Halen, and later on Dokken, Giant, Winger and so on, so it felt very natural."

TH: Why was it that you wanted to move more into a melodic rock/AOR direction as opposed to the power metal of Section A?

TE: "It wasn’t an intentional decision at all, it just kinda happened. I dedicated most of 2008 to writing new material and I decided from the get go, that I wouldn’t let genre restrict me in any way. After I had written the first few songs and I got the idea for Acacia Avenue however, I started to work more consciously in this direction."

Torben Enevoldsen: Acacia Avenue the details

ACACIA AVENUE - ACACIA AVENUE

Released January 15th 2010
LMC278 EAN6419922002780

Acacia Avenue is a new band led by Danish guitarist and songwriter Torben Enevoldsen (Section A, Fatal Force) in the melodic hard rock mold and features vocals from Tony Mills (TNT, Shy), Geir Rönning (Radioactive, Prisoner) and Torben Lysholm (Pangea, Mysterell) with drums by Thomas Heintzelmann (Section A, Decoy) and bass from Carsten Neumann (Savage Affair). Home to a clean punchy production, the album is rich in catchy vocal melodies and strong songs.

The style of the album is a blend of melodic hard rock and AOR. Torben spent most of 2008 writing new music with different people and some of the songs went in this direction. He then decided to pursue this particular style and ended up with around 20 songs and ultimately chose the best ones for what has become the debut Acacia Avenue album.

One the making of the album Torben comments, “The goal was simply to create a really great album, and for me personally, to try to write in a different style to that which I’m usually associated with. It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience. My influences for this album musically were bands like Toto, Giant, Dokken, TNT, Van Halen and so on i.e. Melodic bands with a powerful element to them”.

Tony Mills (TNT, Shy) was the first to join in and together they wrote and recorded “Don’t Call Me Tonight” and “Wait No More”. Geir Rönning (Radioactive, Prisoner) began writing with Torben immediately after and together they penned the songs “Hold On”, “No Looking Back” and “Digging”. whilst Torben Lysholm (Pangea, Mysterell) wrote the lyrics for “Just Wanna Be With You” and also sings lead on “Can’t Make You Stay”. Finally Lars Säfsund (W.O.A.) did the vocals on “An Illusion”. Apart from playing all guitars, bass and keyboards on the album, Torben Enevoldsen sang backing vocals on a few songs and also did the lead vocals on “Jamie´s In Love” and “Let Go”. Thomas Heintzelmann (Section A, Decoy) played all the drums and Carsten Neumann (Savage Affair) helped out with the bass.

The mix was done by Torben Enevoldsen at Funny Farm Studios and the mastering was done by Torben Lysholm at Tune Town.

Torben Enevoldsen: Acacia Avenue

Wow this looks like a great new vehicle. Torben Enevoldsen has an amazing picking technique and his song writing is highly melodic... combine that with Tony Mills vocals is sure to be AOR guitar heaven!

Lion Music is pleased to announce the signing of Acacia Avenue for their self titled debut album set for release on Lion Music in January 2010.

Led by Danish guitarist and songwriter Torben Enevoldsen (Section A, Fatal Force) the initial idea for the album came about from Torben writing in a more melodic hard rock nature than his other bands. Quickly the idea emerged to do a whole album in this style but to spice things up Torben called in a few good friends to participate as singers and co-writers.

Tony Mills (TNT, Shy) was the first to join in and together they wrote and recorded“Don’t Call Me Tonight” and “Wait No More”. Geir Rönning (Radioactive, Prisoner) began writing with Torben immediately after and together they penned the songs“Hold On”, “No Looking Back” and “Digging”. Enevoldsen wrote the rest of the songs by himself, but Torben Lysholm (Pangea, Mysterell) wrote the lyrics for “Just Wanna Be With You” and sang vocals on “Can’t Make You Stay” and the Japanese bonus track“Cold”. Finally Lars Säfsund (W.O.A.) performed the vocals on “An Illusion”.

Apart from playing all guitars, bass and keyboards on the album, Torben Enevoldsen sang backing vocals on a few songs and also did the lead vocals on “Jamie´s In Love” and “Let Go”. Thomas Heintzelmann (Section A, Decoy) played drums and Carsten Neumann (Savage Affair) helped out with the bass.

Acacia Avenue is sure to please fans of strong hard melodic rock with each track being home to catchy vocal melodies, strong instrumentation and a crisp clean production.
