Edward Box: heretic nation

VENDETTA - HERETIC NATION

Since their formation in early 2006, Vendetta has gone from strength to strength. 2007’s Tyranny of Minority caught the metal masses unaware - here was a band not just content to reference the old school - they were on a mission to extract the very essence of this timeless style and reignite it for a new age. Inspired and on the up the band has spent the last 18 months carefully crafting their second album and 2009 see’s the release of Heretic Nation.

Containing ten scorching tracks, it takes off where Tyranny of Minority ended and all the hallmarks of the Vendetta sound are present and correct: Crunching guitars, throbbing bass, pounding drums, searing leads and impassioned vocals. "Heretic Nation" has a sound that reaches back into a bygone era of melody and finesse. If you haven’t already caught on then now is the time to convert to this most traditional of English metal bands.

Tommy Ermolli: steps ahead

TOMMY ERMOLLI - STEP AHEAD
Genre - Guitar Instrumental
Best known for his work in Twinspirits and Khymera, Italian guitarist Tommy Ermolli serves up his debut solo album, full of strong songs and stunning guitar work running a variety of styles. Home to great song led compositions with a great production.

More information and whole track mp3 at http://www.lionmusic.com/cd/stepahead.htm

Select reviews excerpts:
"The production is excellent, great tones, great backing from his Twinspirits cohorts and if you are a fan of that band this will be a welcome addition to your collection. On another level Tommy is carving his own sound and this will do his reputation no harm at all. Recommended".
84% at www.virtuosityone.com

"Tommy Ermolli, the young guitarist (only 21) for Khymera and Twinspirits, brings his first solo project Step Ahead proving himself to a musician with maturity beyond his age. Frankly, it's quite enjoyable to be impressed by creativity and composition that goes beyond mere lightning arpeggios. Quite recommended!"
4.5/5 at www.dangerdog.com

"This rounds off what is one of the best guitar albums I’ve heard in ages and redefines the genre for me and will for many".

Niels Vejlyt: kingdom of utopia

INFINITY OVERTURE - KINGDOM OF UTOPIA
Genre - Symphonic Power Metal
Great new band hailing from Denmark led by guitarist Niels Vejlyt. The band also feature vocal legend Ian Parry who wrote the concept story and all lyrics for the album as well as handling all male lead vocals. The album also features superb female vocal performances from Lene Peterson. If you like your metal big bold and grandiose then this is just the ticket.

Also available as a limited edition first pressing only dual CD/DVD version.
More information and whole track mp3 at http://www.lionmusic.com/cd/kingdomofutopia.htm

Select reviews excerpts:
"Whether Symphonic Power Metal is your bag or not, there are likely to be moments in all tracks to attract even the most hardened symphonic power metal cynic. One to be bold and brave about and check out".
86% @ www.virtuosityone.com

"I think it is refreshing to hear well played and arranged symphonic power metal, we haven't heard much from the main contributors in this genre for quite some time, and Infinity Overture offers us exactly all the virtues that makes this genre so interesting and exciting. Quite an impressive debut album".
85/100 at www.powerofmetal.dk

"Overall, Kingdom of Utopia, even with it's often overwhelming bombastic grandeur., succeeds as a powerful first work of symphonic power metal for Niels Vejlyt and company. Recommended".
4/5 at www.dangerdog.com

"All in all a really great album that sets the listener out on their own road to Utopia and will be right up there at the end of the year as one of the albums of the year".

Tommy Ermolli, Daniele Liverani: Italy tour

TWINSPIRITS ANNOUNCE "ITALY IN PROGRESS TOUR 2009"

Twinspirits and OnStage Booking are pleased to announce the first leg of "Italy in Progress Tour 2009", which will kick off in December, bringing the band into some of the best live rock clubs around Italy:

Every gig will host a cool prog-metal local band as an opening act, for the best progressive experience ever!

Just to mention some: for all the guitar freaks out there, Daniele Gottardo (Guitar Idol UK finalist 2008/2009, Steve Vai Guitar Idol Award winner 2009) will be the ice-breaker in both Milan and Padova, unveiling some fine tunes from his forthcoming solo release "Frenzy of Ecstasy" (soon to be released by Favored Nations).
Chapter Zero will warm up the crowd in Bologna (Ke Me Meo club) with their complex-yet-melodic style.

Stay tuned, more updates are to follow soon.

Rob Chappers: The Monkey Lord Experience

Monkey Lord at Monkey World no doubt!

The Monkey Lord Experience
£85.00
This is a unique chance to spend a morning with the Monkey Lord.

The ML experience will include two hours of private guitar tuition with Rob Chappers. The morning will start with the chance to discuss your tuition requirements over breakfast with Mr & Mrs Monkey Lord - and if you are very lucky you will be taken out somewhere nice rather than having to eat burnt toast! (Breakfast included in the price.)

The two hours of guitar tuition can include:
Careers guidance for young monkeys starting out as musicians, and/or anything you would like to know more about, from theory to practice. You may also have the opportunity to be filmed and appear in one of the Monkey Lord’s YouTube videos.

The ML can teach full modal theory and beginners are absolutey welcome.

You will have to make your own arrangements, at your own cost, to travel to and from Wiltshire. The time and date of the Monkey Lord experience will be arranged after payment is received, to suit both parties. You will need to bring your own guitar but do not need to bring an amp.

If you are purchasing this experience as a gift, please let us know if you would like a gift voucher to be emailed to you.

Daniel Péroine presents his first solo album made of 9 original compositions in the vibe of guitarists like Satriani,Vaï, Garsed-Helmerich. Also inspired by bands like PlanetX and Dream Theater, his music is very melodical, with energic rythms, and guitar playing is very fluid with his great 8 tapping fingers technics.
The drums are played by Olivier Baldissera, bass by Philippe Chevalot and Yann Klimezyk (my pollux) to the audio mix.

Richie Kotzen: Bristol a second opinion!

As they say two heads are better than one... so got to allow my bigger brother his say (sourced from Richie Kotzens forum)

Chris Monk say:
Just had to call into say "Wow what a great show".

No it's not a coincidence that I have the same surname as Laurie Monk, I'm his older and more handsome brother. It was him that drove me and a hilarious Rob "Monkey Lord" Chappers to the show.

Loved the Ben Poole Band. Not bad for a bunch of young guys. They were very amusing after the show too. Nice chaps.

The second band, don't remember the name, were trying hard but certainly suffered by comparison to what came later.

As for Richie well, simply put, I was blown away.

I've been a fan of his music since the release of his first album but what I hadn't reckoned on was his near perfect vocals. Needless to say his guitar playing is awesome, not mindless shred but well constructed and tuneful soloing. Great bass player and drummer too.

Have to say that Swindon was marginally better but suspect that was due to a slightly better audience response.

Hopefully Richie will be touring again soon, can't believe I haven't had a chance to see him before.

Why isn't this guy playing concert halls?

Harry K Cody: where are they now

Rolling Stone magazine called Harry Cody "innovative" and "articulate." Alternative Press termed his former lineup, Shotgun Messiah, "maybe the perfect '90s band." And Guitar magazine praised his "power, precision and leads." While Shotgun Messiah toured the United States supporting three critically acclaimed album releases, enjoying airplay with the hit "Heartbreak Boulevard," Cody was listening to Berthold Brecht and Kurt Weil, and was raised on everything from Swedish pop bands to violent TV shows to Fassbinder art movies. Originally hailing from Sweden, Harry has made the US his home after being signed to an American label over a decade ago. Now Cody is one of the key staff composers of LA based Groove Addicts.

ESP Horizon FR-II guitar - owned by the Monkey Lord £1,100.00 BUY
The Monkey Lord (AKA Rob Chappers) is VERY reluctantly selling his beautiful ESP Horizon FR-II guitar for £1,100 PLUS shipping.

Rob says: “Eddie Kramer named her Cokie while I was with him in LA as he re-mastered the Woodstock tapes. She is pretty much as new, no scratches or dings and comes with an ESP hard case.

Please bear in mind that this is the new 09 model with the see thru red finish (not black cherry) and EMGs, not the old UK model with Seymour Duncans.”

Here is a link to it on the ESP website: http://www.espguitars.com/guitars_horizon.html

The shipping cost, which is to be paid separately upon confirmation of delivery address, is estimated to be around £35 within mainland UK, via UPS.

If you are outside of mainland UK, please contact us with a full delivery address, including any post code, for a shipping price, prior to purchasing.

The guitar retails at around £1,700 (please see http://www.dv247.com/guitars/esp-guitars-horizon-fr-ii-electric-guitar-see-tru-red--63972 as example) but you can get them for about £1,450 if you shop around.
