Ulf Katschrowski: Marco Sfogli's shred this too

Ulf Katschrowski put together another unusual video for his entry.

My entry for Marco Sfogli's "Shred This Too" Competition.
After one last contest my guitar is still a little bit on fire. Because of this and the definition of "shred" I have played a faster blues ;-)
Special thanks to Laurie Monk and the judges.

Andy James: Shred This Too

Wow, totally blown away that the shred Meister Andy James has had a quick jam over that backing track!! Asked about his skills

Andy James says:
Proper practice, not as often as id like. Having said that I play alot for my job but isnt always stuff I want to play. But it pays the bills, cant complain about that. As for songs, all the learn to play stuff ive done for licklibrary, I dont remember a note of it. Maybe thats because when Ive done the job I never play the stuff again. Im better with my own stuff, but its not as difficult to remember my own licks as it is someone elses.

Andy James says:
This isnt a proper entry for the competition. I just thought id have a go at jamming something out over the track just for fun. The playing isnt perfect but hope you guys like it anyway and feel free to leave any comments.

Guthrie Govan: lick library interview with the Guvanor!

G is for guitarist and G is for Guru. G is for great and G is for genius. And G is for Guthrie Govan, to whom - as anyone who has ever seen the man perform will know - every one of those epithets applies. Especially genius, and especially in its sense of 'innate ability', of being a natural. So natural a player is Guthrie Govan, in fact, that you could be forgiven for imagining that he must have been born with a guitar in his hand. You'd only be half wrong.

Essex born Guthrie Govan popped in for a chat with Mike Casswell about about how he learnt to play from the age of three, his influences, shares some top tips and much more!

Daniel Peroine: far side interview

First off, tell us a little about yourself and your music...

I'm 43 years old, I'm living in Nancy (France) and I’ve been teaching guitar for twenty years now.

I'm a graduate of CMCN (musical school in France) and of Los Angeles GIT.

I played in many rock, heavy or top 40 bands in the east of France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Deutschland and Switzerland.

In February 2007, I created my own band which is instrumental progressive rock.

Actually, it's a solo project. I recorded in May 2009 at "Mon Studio" with Yann Klimezick as sound engineer, Olivier Baldissera on drums and Philippe Chevallot on bass guitar.

It's an instrumental album with nine original songs.

Charlie Hunter: all about jazz interview

Charlie Hunter can do it all. Creating an instrument that translates all his musical desires, Hunter simultaneously plays bass lines, rhythm guitar and lead with incredible ease; making him one of the most exceptional jazz players currently on the circuit.

Recently departing from the group he co-founded, Garage A Trois, Hunter went right back to work on a new album and tour to be introduced and carried out in the New Year.

Hunter is celebrating the release of the new album Gentlemen, I Neglected To Inform You You Will Not Be Getting Paid, with a residency at Rose Live Music in Brooklyn now. The album was released on January 12, 2010 through Hunter's own Spire Artist Media and digitally through reapandsow.

On this record, Hunter is accompanied by a new set of artistically endowed musicians to compliment his always radiant and unique guitar work. Joining Hunter is a new horn section composed of trombonists' Curtis Fowlkes, Alan Ferber and trumpeter Eric Biondo. Grounding the rhythm section is a familiar “jam scene" friend, the improvisational drummer Eric Kalb, who's toured with Deep Banana Blackout, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings and many more. Biondo and Fowlkes will be joining Hunter for the Rose Live Music residency.
