Michael Angelo Batio: Slow Kills :)

This is very funny. Hang in there because it's a bit repetitive in the beginning. First, Michael plays one of the exercises from Speed Kills fast, then he plays it super slow. In this video you see that playing fast isn't that difficult for Michael. Playing slow can be challenging. In the second part of the video I mention to Michael that he didn't have one bend in the entire Speed Kills program. His response is pretty funny. Also, notice how he is shredding while he is listening to me. He's able to pay attention to our conversation while playing some very challenging guitar without even thinking about it. It shows that this stuff must be played with our subconscious mind. It doesn't matter if you're playing chords or shredding on riffs like this you must make playing guitar "second nature" - Doug Marks

Simon Kinny-Lewis,Brett Garsed: Strat Attack instrumental album

Simon Kinny-Lewis - one of the most exceptional jazz/blues guitarist/singers on the scene today was born February 18, 1981 in Sydney, Australia. He started on the instrument early, making his first live appearances at 11. While attending school and busking on weekends with his younger brother Edward, Simon became obsessed with learning from the masters, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Frank Gambale... Just after finishing high school he was playing and singing in various blues bands. His first regular gig was with a group called The Other Brothers featuring drummer Peter Burgess from the Backsliders. He then went on to perform at the 2001 Bridge Town Blues Festival 2001 in Western Australia with the Kerry Sweeney Band. Soon after, he performed a show with two of Sydneys finest Blues guitarist Ray Beadle and Adam Pringle at the Bridge in Roselle.
It was in his late teens that he was introduced to Jazz guitar giant James Muller and became deeply affected by his melodic approach and execution on the instrument. He began to put together his own group including Gerard Pigram on drums, Pat Savina on Bass and Stuart Ross on Rhodes, Hammond. Writing songs influenced by his favorite singers, Robert Cray, Steve Winwood he recorded his first record Open up the Letter. The songs were a great vehicle for Simons guitar work and singer/song writing ability.
He then spent a year living in Bali where he wrote his second album a winding bend, recorded in Bali with bassist Doddy Sambodo and drummer Sony Purwanto. Back in Australia he recorded third album Higher Heaven that made his name in the Sydney Morning Herald under Ten bands you must hear the work was a mixture of new material and songs that had been left off a winding bend. This album demonstrates his mastery on both electric and acoustic bringing to the forefront his own modern blues style. In between gigs and teaching, his other musical involvements include; numerous TV ad campaigns with producers Peter Kaldor for Arizona Productions (which included the 2000 Olympic games ad), Elliot Wheeler for Turning Point, Les Gock for Song Zu.

Here's a little taste of some of my Country playing folk's I will be releasing my new country album entitled " Country Fried Chicken " soon after "Strat Attack" it features some total bad ass musicians on it!

Vivian Campbell: It's the 30-year anniversary of 'Holy Diver' next year...

"I was fired from the band, and for many, many years and his ex-wife,Wendy Dio, tried to portray it that I left the band, that I turned my back on them, and that actually wasn't true. It was a bit of a mud-slinging match between Ronnie and I, and I regret a lot of the things I said about him. I'm sure if Ronnie was still alive, he would regret a lot of the things he said about me. But the fact is it was very difficult for me to even listen to those songs for decades, and enough time has passed where I'm able to go back and reflect upon that and actually take ownership of it again, and embrace it for what it was. I mean, they were great records, I'm proud of them, I'm very proud of my input to them, I'm very proud of the songs I wrote and the way I played back then. I meet people that come up to me and say, 'Man, that solo in 'Rainbow In The Dark',' and so on and so forth. It means so much to people. So I just [thought] now is a good time… It's the 30-year anniversary of 'Holy Diver' next year, and it's a good time to go back and embrace it again."

Ryan Glisan,Greg Burgess: Allegaeon - A Path Disclosed - techncial metal

Allegaeon (pronounced: uh-lee-juhn) was formed in 2008 by founding member and guitar player Ryan Glisan. Soon thereafter joined the classically trained guitarist Greg Burgess, vocalist Ezra Haynes and bassist Corey Archuleta to round out and form what people have come to know now as the Colorado Kings of Melodic Metal. In 2008, Allegaeon released their 4 song, self-titled EP and quickly gained attention from the local, national and international metal fans as well as Metal Blade records. In 2009, barely a year after releasing their first EP to the world, Allegaeon agreed to a deal with Metal Blade Records and thus began their relationship and Allegaeon's entry into the ever expanding metal community.

2010 brought Allegaeon's debut album Fragments of Form and Function (FOFAF). FOFAF was recorded in Denver at Flatline Audio with Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation, Vale of Pnath) and was released on July 20th, 2010. Between 2010-2011, Allegaeon had a slew of singles that played in such heavy rotation on the Sirius Liquid Metal Station that they cracked the stations top 20 most played bands list. lists Allegaeon's debut album, FOFAF, as the #4 rated death metal album of all time (by the websites rating standards). FOFAF was critically acclaimed by many and catapulted the band out of obscurity and into the ranks of metals elite new bands.

In January 2012, the band traveled to Southern California and entered Lambesis Studios with Daniel Castleman (As I Lay Dying, Impending Doom, Carnifex, Winds of Plague) to begin work on their follow up record titled Formshifter. The latest album brings forward a sound that both plays off the band's previous releases mixed in with some new flavors that will be sure to enthrall old and new fans alike. Guitarist Greg Burgess had this to say about the new album, "With Formshifter, I think we kept the sound a lot of our fans love about us, but achieved them through certain compositional challenges. Be it style, or genre mixing, I believe that we seamlessly applied certain elements we didn't have on Fragments, and it added a color and dimension we didn't have before". Guitarist Ryan Glisan adds, "This album to me indicates the future of the band but nods to our past as well. It, to me, is more of where I have envisioned our band being since I started the band a couple years back, it relies on similar songwriting structures and musicality but adds more groove and memorable riffing than our previous efforts."

Giancarlo Zaffoni: gets Two Handed Player interview

Giancarlo Zaffoni: I was born in Lanzo Torinese (Turin), the 25th of February, 1978. I am living in Balangero, nearby Lanzo, at about 27 km northward from Turin, Italy.

I started playing guitar at age of 13, at the children's club in my hometown, Balangero. When I was 16, my parents brought to me my first electric guitar, as a Christmas gift. It was a Fender Stratocaster Made in Mexico, and there began my music course. In 1995, at the age of 17, I joined my first band, with some friends of mine. Since that time until now, I've played in several bands, exploring musical languages like rock, r'n'b, blues, soul, pop, funky, hard rock and heavy metal. After spending many years as a self-taught musician, in June 2008 I joined the Lizard Music Academy, under the guide of the guitarist and session man Tony De Gruttola. Now I am preparing my final graduation exam.

Marshall Harrison: Swybryd Picking Genesis Zappa and Rosenblatt

One single combination of pick/finger strokes enables us to play some fairly challenging musical phrases. Starting with The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway then Black Page no 2 and finally Rosenblatt's Christmas Fantasy and Astro Boy Variations, This lesson culminates in a demonstration of a lick (by Alexander Rosenblatt originally composed for piano) which incorporates hybrid picking, economy picking, string-skipping and wide stretches other than those hurdles it's not that difficult. Enjoy.
