Simon Kinny-Lewis,Brett Garsed: Strat Attack instrumental album

Simon Kinny-Lewis - one of the most exceptional jazz/blues guitarist/singers on the scene today was born February 18, 1981 in Sydney, Australia. He started on the instrument early, making his first live appearances at 11. While attending school and busking on weekends with his younger brother Edward, Simon became obsessed with learning from the masters, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Frank Gambale... Just after finishing high school he was playing and singing in various blues bands. His first regular gig was with a group called The Other Brothers featuring drummer Peter Burgess from the Backsliders. He then went on to perform at the 2001 Bridge Town Blues Festival 2001 in Western Australia with the Kerry Sweeney Band. Soon after, he performed a show with two of Sydneys finest Blues guitarist Ray Beadle and Adam Pringle at the Bridge in Roselle.
It was in his late teens that he was introduced to Jazz guitar giant James Muller and became deeply affected by his melodic approach and execution on the instrument. He began to put together his own group including Gerard Pigram on drums, Pat Savina on Bass and Stuart Ross on Rhodes, Hammond. Writing songs influenced by his favorite singers, Robert Cray, Steve Winwood he recorded his first record Open up the Letter. The songs were a great vehicle for Simons guitar work and singer/song writing ability.
He then spent a year living in Bali where he wrote his second album a winding bend, recorded in Bali with bassist Doddy Sambodo and drummer Sony Purwanto. Back in Australia he recorded third album Higher Heaven that made his name in the Sydney Morning Herald under Ten bands you must hear the work was a mixture of new material and songs that had been left off a winding bend. This album demonstrates his mastery on both electric and acoustic bringing to the forefront his own modern blues style. In between gigs and teaching, his other musical involvements include; numerous TV ad campaigns with producers Peter Kaldor for Arizona Productions (which included the 2000 Olympic games ad), Elliot Wheeler for Turning Point, Les Gock for Song Zu.
