Thiago Trinsi: Dark Rose - first lesson for GMC

Here I am with my first lesson for GMC and I am very happy to present you an original piece called Dark Rose! It is a kind of Hard Rock Style with some nice tapping technique exploring the 4ths and 5ths in a C#m7 pentatonic way, I did add the 9th interval into it so keep it in mind!

The song starts with riffs in C#m/ B/ C#m...E /B...C#m/ B/ C#m..F#m/ A/ E/ B/D#...
I also use C#m7 Aeolian mode and there is a part in the song that goes to "C" and "D" where I play over C Lydian and D Mixolydian modes! That´s because I play a 4 and 5 fingers style of tapping which pretty much starts from C Lydian reaching the D Mixolydian mode.

In the Bluesy part it is just pentatonics, I use mostly Em7 combined with Em6, E dominant Pentatonic and blue-note.
As I am playing over E7 Chord I used E7 MiXolydian scale to finish that part.

Here you have the main video with full performance of the song in 140 bpm and I also have a sequence of 10 videos where I break down every lick showing you them in the slow mode. I recommend you to go step by step with this lesson to get a better result.

I hope you have a great time with this lesson! I see you next time!

Ronnie James Dio: Metal Hammers Tribute

On May 16, 2010, Ronnie James Dio died, after battling against cancer. He was just 67 years old... reminding us to take everyday as it comes. RIP.

Keshav Dhar,Devesh Dayal: Skyharbor - crowdfunding for second album

Second Album Help us fund our new album with pre-orders, exclusive items, one-off experiences and behind-the-scenes access!

Dear fans, followers, well wishers and loved ones – as those of you familiar with us already know, we are Skyharbor, a motley bunch of musicians from across three different continents who make big expansive progressive sounds.

It’s been a crazy ride over the last four years. From being nothing more than a few messy Cubase files we had somehow formed a real band over the internet, been invited to be main support to Lamb of God, recorded and released our debut album worldwide, headlined a tour in the UK where we sold out London, and we’re playing Download Festival in June 2014 as our 14th ever show (yup…. crazy). And now, we’re in the process of recording a new album which we’re incredibly proud of and want to make the best possible product we can put out. This includes the production, presentation, packaging, videos, artwork, and all of the things which greatly depend not on our own creative prowess but unfortunately on that troublesome thing called money.

Our goals are very simple. We want the album to sound as good as it can possibly be, and we will be working with the legendary Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect) who will be mixing the album. We also hope to create a beautiful, epic animated music video for the album, for which we have approached the brilliant animator Jess Cope (Steven Wilson, Devin Townsend, Storm Corrosion) to do a very special video with a beautiful story for us. Just imagining the final products with the touches of genius from these people on it makes us incredibly excited, and we know and sincerely believe that our fans will receive something to be cherished fondly for a long time.

Five months ago, we posted out from our Facebook page that we were very hesitant to approach the idea of a Pledge campaign, as we felt it was something like asking for handouts. We obviously hadn't been paying much attention, because we received an overwhelmingly positive response towards crowd funding the album, and most of you strongly encouraged us to do it. Which got us thinking again – maybe all our visions for the album don’t have to be a pipe dream – because if you guys are willing to be a part of the creation, then there’s literally nothing to stop us!

Simone Dow,Scott Kay: Voyager launch new song Breaking Down

AUSTRALIA - Australian progressive metal quintet, Voyager, has launched a guitar play-through video for the new song, "Breaking Down," taken from the band's upcoming album, V, due out June 3 (with distribution through Nightmare Records). The video is streaming exclusively on at:

"Scott [Kay, rhythm guitar] and I just sat down and picked out the meatiest riffs and our best solos on the album to share with all our guitar-loving fans out there," lead guitarist, Simone Dow, told "Good melody, build-up/anticipation and a lot of wide vibrato is my key to writing solos. Hope you all enjoy!"

The Kickstarter-funded, 13- track album, V, can be pre-ordered now via Bandcamp at:

V was recorded at Templeman Audio with producer, Matt Templeman. The band calls the release "heavy, groovy and super-catchy. This is going to be pure, polished Voyager with a modern feel; we are insanely excited about unleashing this."

2. Breaking Down

7. Orpheus
8. Domination Game
9. Peacekeeper

With four full-length albums under its belt and shows throughout North America, Europe and Asia with the likes of Devin Townsend, Children of Bodom, Soilwork, Nightwish, Epica and Orphaned Land, the five-piece from Oceania is now firmly entrenched in its international repute as a band with heavy grooves, driving riffs and unforgettable melodies. The band's fourth opus, The Meaning of I (2011), saw rave reviews and international acclaim of the highest caliber (including #8 in Metal Hammer Germany's 'Soundcheck'). The U.K.'s, Classic Rock Presents Prog, called the album a "polished collection of heavy, heavily polished anthems."

Complimented by a fiery red keytar, a feisty female guitarist, and vocals Chino Moreno (Deftones, Crosses) recently likened to Duran Duran's, Simon Le Bon, Voyager is consistently a live force to be reckoned with. After breaking the record for the longest fan signing session in the 12 year history of America's "Progpower Festival," the band will return to "Progpower" Europe this year alongside Chimp Spanner, Agent Fresco, Pagan's Mind and more.

Stay tuned for more information on Voyager and V.

Peter Frampton: “Hummingbird In A Box” will be released in the UK and US

Peter Frampton’s new mini-album, “Hummingbird In A Box”, will be released in the UK and US on Tuesday June 24th via RED Distribution/Sony Music.

The new music was inspired by the Cincinnati Ballet, featuring seven original guitar pieces in Frampton's virtuosic stylings. Frampton composed all songs on the mini-album along with Gordon Kennedy, who also co-produced the recording. The two previously teamed up for “Fingerprints”, which garnered them both a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album.

The music debuted in April 2013 at Cincinnati’s Aronoff Center for the Arts. Two of the Cincinnati Ballet’s spring production’s segments were choreographed to existing Frampton music—with Frampton and his band performing live—while a third section featured the new composition by Frampton and Kennedy.

Of the project Frampton notes, “Writing for dance was a wonderfully freeing experience. There were no boundaries. We were able to push the composing envelope,” and Kennedy furthers, “Songwriters and musicians create music to move people. This was beautiful, graceful, and instantly gratifying!”

This time Frampton will set out on a three-part catch-all tour including select solo dates, a co-headlining run with Grammy-winning American rock legends The Doobie Brothers and the return of Frampton’s Guitar Circus. For tour details, please visit

Frampton was recently inducted in the Musicians Hall of Fame, performed on-stage at the Grammy’s with Ringo Starr and also played an integral part in the 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles’ arrival in the U.S. Frampton also produced Humble Pie’s Rockin’ The Fillmore deluxe compilation with original member Jerry Shirley (available now via Omnivore Recordings).
