Rick Renstrom became interested in playing guitar at the age of fifteen after being inspired by a Yngwie Malmsteen performance that he saw on television. Some of his biggest guitar influences include Yngwie Malmsteen, Ritchie Blackmore, Uli Jon Roth, Al Di Meola, Andy LaRocque, Ronni Le Tekrø. He also draws influence from classical composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He has worked with several bands and artists throughout his career, most notably Rob Rock and Richard Christy. Rick was instrumental in connecting Richard with Chuck Schuldiner to join Death and Control Denied when Chuck was producing Rick’s previous band. Rick has also appeared on various other compilations. In 2003 he released his debut solo album, Until the Bitter End.

Maxxxwell Carlisle, Nita Strauss, Rick Renstrom: Full Metal Thunder EP announced

Maxxxwell Carlisle has announced that a follow-up album to Visions Of Victory, entitled  Full Metal Thunder will be released digitally on April 3rd, via Power Dungeon Music with a physical CD release to follow on May 3rd. The five-song EP features guest solos by Nita Strauss and Rick Renstrom. The EP also features a new vocalist, Michael Yancy on all tracks.

Today, I completed the keyboard recordings for the Rick Renstrom's "Holmes and Slice" upcoming album! It has been really funny and cool to play on each track, featuring the superb Rick's guitar playing and the killer rhythmic section built by Rich Marks on bass and the amazing drum legend Atma Anur!

The new album entitled "The Adventure Begins ..." is well under way in the recording process and will be released summer/fall 2011. It includes 11 songs in the neo-classical style combined with many progressive and blues influences.

Holmes and Slice is the newest, and quite possibly the only 4-piece instrumental group of its kind. Combining traditional classical melodies and arrangements infused with rock, metal and blues, Holmes and Slice create a sound that stimulates the mind and captures the imagination. The debut album, entitled "The Adventure Begins..", has 11 tracks that and span the music spectrum. Background:
Rick Renstrom started playing guitar at the age of fifteen, after seeing Yngwie Malmsteen on a TV special. When he was sixteen, he attended the University of Akron majoring in music. Rick studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, theory, composition and overall musicianship.

Rick Renstrom musical influences are Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Ritchie Blackmore, Uli Jon Roth, Al DiMeola, Andy LaRocque, Ronni Le Tekro, Bach and Mozart.

Rick has won the "Best Lead Guitarist" at the 1996 CFMA Awards, 1998 won the M.A.R.S. Guitar challenge and 2001 recieved "Best Metal Guitarist" at the Orlando Metal Awards. As a result Rick has signed with Mascot Records for all of Europe.
