Karolina Sustova: Zvony (Wishbone Ash cover)

It is a cover of Wishbone Ash's song Errors of My Way. All rights belong to their respective owners.

Karolina Sustova - guitars, vocals, arrangement
Petr Susta - guitars, vocals, mixing, video making

Petr used to play this tune with his band Perpetuum Mobile in the 70s (their version of the song is available for listening in the History section. Karolina made a new arrangement inspired by both versions, added some new ideas and finished the Czech lyrics.
Hope you like it. ,-)

News: range Amplification, has raised $10,000 to help Dave Peterson

‘The Music Aid For Joplin’ auction, set up by Orange Amplification, has raised $10,000 to help Dave Peterson, owner of the Glory Days Music Store, following its destruction in a devastating tornado last May.

Dave Peterson also lost his home in the devastation, which flattened nearly half of Joplin, Missouri, during the severest tornado season in more than fifty years in the USA. On seeing the devastation on worldwide CNN News, British amplifier maker Orange Amplification, alongside other manufacturers and distributors within the music industry, joined together to create an auction of very special musical equipment hosted by the Fame Bureau in the UK, with all proceeds going to aid Glory Days Music. Among those who contributed were Intel, Yamaha, Jim Dunlop, Aria, Guitar World Magazine, Taylor Guitars, Sabian Cymbals, Seymour Duncan, and Orange’s endorsed artists Geddy Lee (Rush), Mastodon, Theory of a Deadman, and more.

Grigg Haws, Orange Amps’ Midwest Sales Representative, recently presented Dave and his brother Ben with the $10,000 raised. Dave was overwhelmed by the unbelievable generosity of people and said “Our business of 15 years suddenly gone, our home gone, two cars gone, we are lucky to be alive. We left the EF5 disaster scene with only the clothes on our back. The Orange Amplification family and others went beyond their normal daily duties and gave my family huge hope! The generous auction money donated to us has been used to provide for our families daily living needs. God bless all at Orange Amps and the other companies in the music industry that have contributed.”

Cliff Cooper, founder and CEO of Orange Amplification said “We cannot always choose what we lose. It was heart-warming to know the funds we raised have helped Dave Peterson through these difficult times and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the other kind companies that showed their support. Folks in the music industry are a close-knit community and it is just one way of showing that we really care.

News: Live and Unsigned competition

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is delighted to announce that it will once again be supporting the UK’s biggest unsigned music competition, ‘Live and Unsigned’, which has just been launched for 2012.
With the chance to play at The O2 in London and £100,000 in prizes, Live and Unsigned is set to attract thousands of unsigned musicians when auditions begin in January. The competition has also just announced an additional new main cash prize of £10,000 for the winning act to spend on their development. Other prizes up for grabs include a UK tour, a selection of Blackstar and TC Electronic amps, extensive coverage on MUZU TV and YouTube and a comprehensive consultation package with Future Music including social marketing, image, brand, access to industry contacts and the prospect of festival slots across the UK and the world.
Live and Unsigned is open to all genres. All acts in the competition are auditioned live which is what makes Live and Unsigned so unique, there are no demos or submissions. Acts that make it through the audition stage will get to perform to industry judges, A&R associates and celebrity guests in some of the UK's most prestigious venues. Those who make it to the Grand Final will get to share the stage with some of the UK's best musicians at Live Fest at The O2 in London! Acts on the bill last year included Tinchy Stryder, Zane Lowe, Roll Deep and The Hoosiers.
Judges set to join the panel in 2012 include Radio 1 DJ’s Annie Nightingale, Tom Deacon and Daniel P Carter, Kerrang’s Alex Baker and Happy Mondays star Bez alongside professionals from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance.
Auditions begin again in January 2012 and acts are urged to enter now as places are in high demand and auditions are limited for what will be a great platform for any act or band to showcase their music.

News: Wishbone Ash CD released

CLASSIC ROCK LEGENDS WISHBONE ASH - LEBRATE THE RELEASE OF ‘ELEGANT STEALTH’

11/15/2011 - Danbury, CT - Elegant Stealth represents a benchmark in the evolution of Wishbone Ash, one of the most influential guitar bands in the history of rock. Signature twin-lead melodies and a powerhouse rhythm section frame 11 new tracks that reflect a diverse realm of styles and moods. Elegant Stealth will be released on ZXY Music on November 25th.

Formed in 1969, Wishbone Ash has more than 20 original studio recordings and several live albums to their credit. On Elegant Stealth, the group coalesces around strong songwriting and serious chops. Founding member Andy Powell handles lead vocals and trades licks with Finland’s guitar wizard Muddy Manninen. Bassist Bob Skeat, a 14-year veteran of the band and in-demand studio musician, sets the pace with Joe Crabtree, one of the best of Britain’s new breed of drummers, having played with Pendragon and David Cross of King Crimson.

The band demonstrates its versatility on Elegant Stealth, from the pop/rocker “Reason to Believe” to the gentler vibe of “Give it Up” to tunes like “Warm Tears” and “Big Issues,” where the band gets to stretch out and flex its musical muscles.

Guest artists appearing on the new CD include Deep Purple’s Don Airey, who played Hammond B3 organ on the instrumental “Mud-slick,” and Ireland’s Pat McManus played fiddle on “Can’t Go It Alone,” which he penned specially for Wishbone Ash.

Citing Wishbone Ash as an influence on their style, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Southern Rock outfits like Lynyrd Skynyrd and, more recently, heavyweights like Opeth and some of the guitar-based Indie/Alternative bands, have all taken a little something from the legendary twin-guitar approach of Wishbone Ash. Truly, there is no other rock band on the planet that has done more with the twin guitar concept than the Ash.

The band’s recent dates in Japan and arena shows in South Africa were a prelude to a 6-week European tour to support Elegant Stealth starting in early January. The States will be visited in April with summer festival work there and in Europe in 2012.

Tour dates and more information can be found at www.wishboneash.com

Jack Gardiner: new talent headed for guitar idol final

We are back with our second New Talent Showcase, where we embrace incredible new guitar playing talent, and Jack Gardiner is most definitely talented.
Not only can Jack write an incredible track but his playing is quite simply sublime.
The video we are showcasing, called 'New Beginnings', has got Jack through to the live finals of Guitar Idol where he will compete with eleven other great players, including JTC's Hedras Ramos.
The video has only been up for a few days on our You Tube channel and some of the comments are incredible. One guy called Jack the new Guthrie....which I am sure will have put a smile on Jack's face! We are pretty sure that we will be seeing quite a bit of Jack at Jam Track Central.

Steve Howe: Yes Bristol 2011 mini review

A nice Burrito before the show to get you warmed up... highly recommended. Unlike the Colston Hall seating which remains an issue for me.The seats exacerbate my sciatica and you are forced to sit down.... ouch my leg hurts...

We saw the show last year and were really looking forward to it booking the tickets early. We were somewhat dismayed to see that Oliver Wakeman was being replaced by the rather lack luster Geoff Downes ... but this is Yes so surely the songs will carry them through. Steve Howe to mind just gets better and better. I've been constantly amazed at this guys ability, versatility and originality with the stringed instruments. Tonight is no exception and we're also treated to an acoustic set, which the audience adores. The singer... whose name escapes me in this dark hour, is not on form... much better last time around... One hopes that it was just a glitch. Chris Squire is his usual towering ebullient self, great bass and backup vocals. He brings a Vigier Baritone bass on for one song that looks impressive... but is is shorter than Allan Holdsworth's Gonan. The new material is played, first track is OK, but the second just goes on forever... but not in a nice way... we all agree after the show... this could be cut in half or dropped all together in favour of other Yes classics (yes... that's right no owner of a lonely heart tonight). The shows crescendo is Starship Trooper, Rick Wakeman's tour De Force, but we're subjected to a pub keyboard player fawning in a red cape, holding a Miami Vice style portable keyboard... the fight in front of the stage between husband and wife is much more interesting and has far more improvisation... but I digress.

OK over all Steve Howe, Allan White and Chris Squire get A*,A and A respectively, while the singer and keyboard player get to take some resits... ummm... as Michel Roux Junior might say... "I would not serve that in my kitchen!!!" ... However, I should point out that Shred Medium liked it and there standing ovations at the end of the show... So I guess a score of 7 out of 10 this time compared to 9 out of 10 last time.

The Colston Hall, we'd hate you to enjoy the show security are out in force tonight... so I resort to poor old camera on phone.

Need more space in the t-shirt draw... but it has to be done!  Upside down as a mark of respect to the missing Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman.
