Fanalo Alaux: Le CIAM joins the Institute’s International Partners Network

Le CIAM joins the Institute’s International Partners Network

The Institute is delighted to announce that Bordeaux-based music school Le CIAM has joined the Institute’s international partners’ network as an Associate School.

Le CIAM has been a leading French school in the field of Contemporary Music Education for nearly 30 years. The school delivers a range of specialist technical and creative programmes which lead to awards recognised by the French government.

The school boasts a fully-functional venue within its premises providing all students with regular performance opportunities, both as performers on stage and as technicians and support staff off-stage.

The ever-growing International Partner’s Network is identifying and connecting schools throughout the world that share the same values and commitment to quality education. Through the Network schools are able to share good practice, provide support and guidance on development, promote the value of contemporary music education and provide exciting developmental opportunities to all students, the last being the overarching and ultimate aim of the project.

The network is structured to allow schools at a range of stages of development to join and interact with each other.

Pete Whittard, International Development Director at the Institute, commented; ‘CIAM have a wealth of experience in contemporary music education, and we look forward to the positive contribution that they can make to the network and its growing number of partners ’

Le CIAM’s Director of Pedagogy, St├ęphane Alaux commented “It is a great honour for the CIAM, its teachers and its students to collaborate with the Institute as Associate Partners. It will undoubtable broaden both institutions pedagogical and cultural horizons”

John McLaughlin: on the Passing of the great Paco De Lucia

Message from John McLaughlin on the Passing of Paco De Lucia

“Paco was a real man. Real in the sense of true; to himself, to his music and to everyone else.

A man in that he was passionate, but had true compassion and deep understanding of the human condition. All this was revealed in his music and in his marvelous guitar playing. To have worked and played music with him is one the greatest blessings in my life. To say I will miss him is an understatement. In the place where he lived in my heart, there is now an emptiness that will stay with me till I join him."

Rick Graham Jam Track- indiegogo fund raising continues

Campaign Summary

I have been playing guitar for 19 years. In my teens I played in some local groups, played festivals and concerts receiving notable recognition. There are several random tracks I have released through the years, but none that have been produced or presented properly...for the most part I have been on my own as an artist-- seriously lacking adequate funding. I have written quite a bit of material which through this project, will finally be professionally recorded, produced and released to the public. Various circumstances have prevented me from putting this music out sooner, however I really feel now is the time in my life to do so. Please help me make this happen!! Many advanced thanks for your support!
