Per Nilsson: Guitar Messenger Solo Competition - stunning prize package!!

Guitar Messenger: Solo Competition Contest Ends
May 07, 2013 @ 12:00 am (EDT)

Per Nilsson
Ok let me clarify this regarding the solo competition: you have to download a backing track from the Guitar Messenger Facebook page, it is the solo section of theScar Symmetry song "Domination Agenda". A few people have uploaded solos where they use a backing track of their own or where they play a cover of some other song and those videos get deleted from the contest I'm afraid...

I'm really looking forward to what you guys can come up with, I'll do my best to try to checkout each and every solo! Keep 'em coming :D

Contest Instructions

1. Go to our Facebook page HERE to download the contest backing track.
2. Submit a video of yourself playing over the backing track HERE.

Contest Starts April 16, 2013 @ 12:00 am (EDT)

Alex Hutchings Live with His New Band and Exclusive Guitar Clinic

23.06.2013, The Bedford, 77 Bedford Hill, Balham, SW12 9HD

World renowned guitarist Alex Hutchings has been blessed by gaining a national and international following over the last few years. Regularly touring around the globe Alex performs under his own name and as an international demonstrator for the Roland Corporation, Laney Amplification and Rotosound Strings.

Other performances include the main guitar role on Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller Live’ arena tour in 13 countries. Glastonbury Festival, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Isle of White Jazz Festival, Cannes Film festival as well as extensive gigs around the UK.

As well as a guitarist Alex has also composed work for the BBC, ITV and the Cable Network.

Alex’s laid back attitude and unassuming nature disguises the fact that he is a truly unique guitar player whose strengths lie in his powerful and dynamic balanced playing as well as the fact he consistently masters some of the most complicated techniques ,which he regularly uses in his playing. These include sweep picking, long legato lines and complex chord changes.

Over the last 12 years Alex has played professionally in a variety of different musical ensembles from a Jazz trio to a full size orchestra to a Jazz big band, numerous pop outfits and his own projects. This is greatly contributed to his vast diversity as a musician. Culminating all of this experience Alex has now found himself in a position to draw upon such experiences to create his own music and is currently in the process of writing material for future releases and touring. Being the perfectionist that he is this will undoubtedly take some time but is sure to be something special when it arrives.

Special Live Performance with the Band and After Show Guitar Clinic

After a good chat with Alex we have decided to arrange a very special one off gig with Alex and his new band. This will allow to create a better chemistry and release some magic on stage. This will give you better experience than jamming to backing tracks that is great but not as powerful as having a real drummer and bass player.

After the gig all music fans will be asked to move to bar area to meet and greet with Alex and those who purchase a ticket for the special guitar lesson will be invited to take their seats and wait for the instructional part of the event with Alex Hutchings.

There are two types of tickets:

The main show will cost only £15 so grab yourself a bargain and hit the buy now button ASAP! The show and guitar clinic combined will cost £35 The number of tickets for this event is limited and they will go fast so secure your spot now to avoid disappointment.

Joe Bonamassa,Beth Hart: will perform a special UK concert

LA-based singer-songwriter Beth Hart, known for her raw and powerful blues-rock sound, wraps her expressive vocals around classic soul covers on “Seesaw”, the second album that grew out of her musical ties with the acclaimed blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. The album is released on Deluxe CD+DVD and Double Vinyl in the UK/Europe on Monday 20th May by Provogue Records (followed by US release on Tuesday 21st May).
After their first successful collaboration on Don’t Explain this highly talented duo is back with Seesaw. As with Don’t Explain, the Seesaw album is tastefully produced by Kevin Shirley (Black Crowes, John Hiatt, Joe Bonamassa). "Beth’s got a pretty heady voice, very reminiscent of Janis Joplin," says Shirley.  "She’s also got a lot of Etta James in her. With this material, there’s gentleness to the way she delivers the most heartfelt tunes. She’s done a fantastic job."
Bonamassa and Hart crossed paths numerous times whilst playing the same festivals in Europe. In early 2010, Bonamassa attended one of her concerts in London. "It was killer," says Bonamassa. He suggested they do a project together sometime. Don’t Explain took shape that summer. Now, two years later, the follow-up album, Seesaw, captures 11 new blistering tracks, including covers from Billie Holiday (Them There Eyes), Melody Gardot (If I Tell You I Love You), Etta James (A Sunday Kind Of Love) and the title track Seesaw, made popular by Aretha Franklin.
