Jaden Rose 8 string fun at the Diezel stand - Musikmesse 2011

When having a break from my demos at the Jaden Rose stand, Jaden and I went to the Diezel stand only to be pleasantly surprised by finding Doug Campbell (of Blackmachine fame, no less) there. I was quite eager to put the 8-string through its paces using the Herbert and to try out the new Hagen. Doug and everyone at the Diezel stand were absolutely stellar - thanks for making me feel welcome!

Since this is far from a serious performance and all about trying the guitar through those amps, there WILL be bum notes here and there from both Doug and I - huge fun nevertheless! :)

This is the first video of 2 recorded there, both featuring very special guitars. I hope you guys enjoy!

Praxis: Profanation - Preparation For A Coming Darkness
Buckethead (guitars); Bill Laswell (bass); Brain (drums)
Since 1992, the core trio of Praxis Buckethead (guitars), Bill Laswell (bass) and Brain (drums) has churned out an eclectic series of albums rooted in aggressive avant-rock improv with a healthy slab of hip-hop, psychedelic funk and space jazz thrown in. On top of that, a constantly morphing army of innovators including John Zorn, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, DJ Disk, Grandmixer DXT and scores more have contributed to Praxis projects - each one a sonic lab experiment gone wild, with Laswell playing mad scientist at the controls. Profanation features the trio trading information with various musicians, this time shining the spotlight on a slew of guest lead vocalists, among them Iggy Pop, System Of A Down's Serj Tankian, Mike Patton, Rammellzee, Doctor Israel, Wu-Tang protege Killah Priest and Jamaica-born toaster Hawk. This record features the sequence of doom.

Glen Drover: Metalusion available - tour notch album!

Glen Drover (Guitars); Jim Gilmour (Keyboards); Paul Yee (Bass); Chris Sutherland (Drums); special guests Chris Poland, Vinnie Moore, Steve Smyth, Fredrik Akesson, Jeff Loomis

With the release of his solo debut, Metalusion, guitarist Glen Dover, best known for his precision and power playing with headbanger icons Megadeth and Eidolon, blends the venom and attack of modern metal and the technically demanding musicianship that defines the classic jazz-rock genre.

The instrumental, 10-track Metalusion, featuring five original compositions and metallic- edged interpretations of material composed by musical giants Frank Zappa, Al DiMeola and Jean-Luc Ponty, mixes robust properties that reveal new and mysterious elements of musical genres.

Metalusion presents a side of Drover’s musical identity that the metal community has rarely witnessed, while boasting diverse yet highly cohesive tracks. “Each song should sound as though it was meant to be included on the record,” says Drover. “Nothing should seem as though it’s out of place.”

Assisting Drover with forging a perfect musical balance are a number of special guests, including Nevermore’s power metal/prog metal guitarist Jeff Loomis, Opeth’s and Talisman’s ass-kicking axe man Fredrik Åkesson, veteran Steve Smyth of the Bay Area’s Forbidden, Ohm’s guitar hero and erstwhile Megadeth genius Chris Poland and classical metal master Vinnie Moore of UFO. buy

Yngwie Malmsteen: Goran Edman tribute to the soul of a viking

GL0RY - Vodka and ice

The Goran Edman The Interview:
You also sung with Yngwie J Malmsteen, a wonderful guitarist possibly one of the most legendary people for changing personnel around. What happened with you and Yngwie after Fire & Ice?
It is the same old story. I did not receive any publishing money ore statements and became very suspicious about it. I consulted a layer in the Swedish Music association where I am a member, and he became very interested in the case. It took us 5 years before we received the money from Yngwie's private publishing company. There is justice after all.

Not much chance of the two of you working together again in the future? He called me about the Inspiration album and wanted me to sing a couple of tracks. After considerations I felt that I did not want to be a part of the Yngwie Malmsteen gallery so I turned the offer down.
I have nothing against Yngwie and I agree that he is an outstanding guitar player. I wish him all the best but I will never work for him again. I think Mark's voice is perfect for Yngwie's music. He is a natural born high range singer.

Was he the most 'challenging' artist you have ever collaborated with?!!
In a way. I mean he was a very established artist, with a bad reputation, touring the international arenas all over the world at the time. There where a lot of fans dedicated to his discography of various singers and to sing covers on Joe Lynn, Mark or Jeff was not that easy. A voice is such a personal and individual instrument.
When we did Heaven Tonight, Yngwie used a sample of the quires from the 'Odessy 'album and it always felt very strange with Joe Lynn Turners voice opening the song. After all it was a good experience and I had a lot of fun

It can take a number of hours for your response to appear. This is
because they have to be approved first. However, if you can't see your
video after 24 hours then it is more likely a youtube response issue.
In this case try this process:
try posting your video again here
or if that does not work try
If youtube won't allow you to add the video in response again, then
post your video as a response to one of your videos. You can then
accept that response. Once that is successful then go through the response process again.
